The Delta Ottawa is in an excellent location being steps from the famous Sparks Street and our Canadian Parliament buildings making it easy to venture to all attractions. Staff members were all polite and respectful wanting to ensure that our stay is memorable. We were in a Signature Club Room, meaning we were on a top floor requiring special access where we had access to the Signature Club Studio which provided snacks and a continental breakfast.

There is nothing bad to say about the Delta Ottawa. Delta’s regardless of where you go, definitely uphold their reputation of being a solid 4 star hotel.

The Delta Ottawa Hotel and Suites is in a perfect location -- a short walk down to the Supreme Court or over to Parliament, close enough to Sparks Street or up Bank. Much better location than either of the other "suites" hotels. So good on them for location.

But otherwise, this is a hotel that is desperate for a renovation. It's not that it's run down, per se, but it looks like it was built and furnished cheaply, and long ago. It has kind of an air of mediocrity to it. This goes from the checkin lobby up to the rooms themselves.

I stayed in a suite, which had a nice balcony looking north with a view of the War Museum and the river, but of course they provide you with no patio furniture so it's kind of a place to stand outside, I guess. The room itself was massive -- the dining room area was very large for example. But the furnishings were cheap and tired -- an uncomfortable couch, a bland dining room set, etc. The mini-bar was removed, another sign of cheapness.

All of that said, the room was clean, the staff was fine, and the location was great, it's just that this hotel has all the character you'd expect from a hotel in Eastern Europe. And while not every hotel has to be a boutique hotel that you'd find in parts of Manhattan, it wouldn't kill the Delta chain to invest a bit more into this hotel to make it not so soul-crushingly bland.
