“Good value. Decent room. Fresh air would've been nice though.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2011 via mobile

2nd stay here mainly due to proximity / convenient location. Rooms are quite decent however you can't open the window! The a/c unit is loud and it dries out the room (and you) throughout your stay. The complimentary bottled water was appreciated as was the free breakfast. Bed was soft-ish but not bad. Loud in the morning with doors closing etc but overall a peaceful stay.

“Not being properly maintained”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 September 2011

Fairfield is a good chain, but this hotel does not meet its standards because it is not being properly maintained.

The hall carpets are worn and dirty. The bedding has a tired look, and the pillows are second rate. The individual air conditioning unit in our room was too noisy - not just the usual whooshing of air but additional noise that I associate with wear or something loose - and we were told that this was an older hotel and that was the way they were. The room windows are sealed, which is good for energy efficiency but bad for removing odors from previous occupants and cleaning solutions. The shower plumbing was functional but cheap.

The fan in the one elevator was extremely noisy - again, a wear problem - and appeared dusty.

It also appeared that family of hotel staff were eating in the breakfast area, which was already too small and overcrowded on this holiday weekend.

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us. I am truly sorry you did not enjoy your time with us more.

We are constantly striving to upgrade our property to ensure our guest's satisfaction, and have made significant investments in the past three months to improve many of our amenities. While there are still areas requiring our attention, please rest assured that we are aware of these opportunities to improve our product, and are addressing them as quickly as we are able. As an example, we have already ordered new carpet to replace the hall carpets that you had noted were worn.

If you would like to discuss your stay further, please feel free to contact me at (905)829-8444, or by email at brian@sunnyhospitality.ca. I would be more than happy to speak to you.

As we continue to improve our product, I hope that you will consider staying with us again the next time you find yourself in the Oakville area.

“An average experience”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 September 2011

The room was fine. It was clean, not very spacious at all. Maybe we were given a small room because we were on points? The fridge is really just a mini bar with nothing in it. It is annoying to have to unlock it each time you open it. We were here for 3 nights and would have liked an option for a larger frig. The staff was rarely at the front desk. One time we waited 20 minutes and no one showed up. Since we were only in the room to sleep, it was fine for our our purposes but we will probably stay somewhere else if we come back to the area.

“Pleasant Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 August 2011

Fairfield Inn is conveniently located right off the highway; easy to get to and away from. The front desk is courteous and the house cleaning staff are good. The rooms are clean and well kept. We had 2 rooms one of them had a musty odor but that may be owing to the lack of ventilation as the windows cannot be opened. There was continental breakfast daily and internet was free with the room. Plenty of parking up front. There is a indoor pool that we did not use and a fitness center on the first level.

Thank you for your kind review! I'm glad you enjoyed your stay with us, and found our staff and facilities to your liking.

Guest input is one of the best ways for us to identify potentially problematic areas of the hoteI. I would love to hear from you at brian@sunnyhospitality.ca regarding the rooms you were in, as this would allow me to address the odor you experienced.

I hope you will stay with us again if you find yourself back in our neighbourhood!

“It was OK for the one night we stayed.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2011

Needed an overnight stop and picked the Fairfield Inn Oakville as it is right next to the QEW. Check in was fast and the front desk clerk was friendly.

My son used the pool, which is on the small side with a maximum occupancy of 10. No towels available, another guest went to the front desk and came back with a stack of fresh towels.

The room size is adequate as is the bathroom. The room was clean although I did find a couple of strands of hair in the bathroom. The A/C is old, loud and hard to adjust.

Followed the sign to the vending machines (4th floor) only to discover that there were no machines, only 2 blue recycling bins? Breakfast was a bit on the sub-standard side in comparison to other Fairfield Inn properties. It appeared that items weren't being replenished. Also, the breakfast area is VERY tiny.

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us.

I'm sorry that you did not enjoy your stay more. While we do our best, being a small hotel means some of our facilities aren't as large as our guests are used to. That said, the service and cleanliness issues you experienced, such as hair in the room and no towels at the pool, are not acceptable. We are always striving to improve the experience for all of our guests, and I will pay special attention to ensuring that these items are addressed, and that future guests do not experience similar issues.

I hope you will continue to consider the Fairfield Inn the next time you find yourself in Oakville!
