“Pubic Hair in bath, bugs, old smelly pillows, rude service, stained...”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2011

Glass on the floor, poor lighting, damaged wall, peeling wallpaper and paint, smelly pillows (really disgusting) dirty couch with spill marks, cover on bed with a large burn hole in it, noise from drunks, room service (Perkins) made me ill and the health dept. found issues, the receptionist was obnoxious and rude and unwilling to have the atm keyboard cleaned of the spittal, the ice bucket was cracked and leaked over my laptop and clothes, The carpets are all stained and shoddy. Wynham (who franchaises these) did nothing but pass on mycomplaints and the owners of Travelodge did not answer any of my letters. TERRIBLE!!!!

“Under renovations and the rooms smell of pets”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 October 2010

This hotel is currently undergoing renovations. The windows are covered in plastic, there is dust everywhere. They allow pets and rather than confine them to a few rooms it appears they can stay in any room as we tried two and they both had very strong pet odours. The carpets were dirty and the hotel is old and it shows. This hotel needs to be closed, and completely redone without guests. The pool was nice and so were the staff, but that is not enough to make up for the condition of the hotel. They also charge $10.00 for roll a way beds.

“Dodgy location but ok”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2010

I stayed at this hotel from 18 to 25th September. The staff were friendly and were very quick in responding to any complaints I had of the room. The room was clean. The room was very warm and the air con made a loud buzzing noise that it had to be kept off. The biggest negative of this hotel is the location as West Finch area is like the Harlesden of London, not the safest after hours. There is a Perkins Restaurant attached to this hotel which is rank to say the least ! The foot is rotten and extremely greasy. It is really awful and is closed by 8 pm. The area has no restaurants in surrounding areas but staff do give you a Chinese takeaway menu. As a non driving tourist, I would not recommend it due to location. I only stayed here as it was the cheapest rate I found for a solo traveller.

“Would rather be homeless than have a room for free.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 August 2010

Where do i start, I was to stay at the hotel with my family for two nights. However right from the start the manager on duty was giving me a hard time because i had bought a package deal here in Montreal which gave me one night plus two admission tickets to Canada's Wonderland. (250$ value) in which the manager started to complain that he is not being paid by the agency that i purchased this deal from( la forfaiterie)(not my problem) so after telling him that he needs to deal with them and that i don't need to hear about it he finally checked me in. We got up to the sixth floor and as soon as we stepped out of the elevator there was a repulsive smell in the corridor and it was very humid, the carpet was stained and it looked as if they just threw it on the floor as it had bumps right down the hall. We open the door to a hot and smelly room, i killed a wasp that was in the room, air conditionning was off as they were supposedly pressure cleaning. The manager told me that the air conditionning would be back on in an hour(this was at 2:30) it finally kicked in at 5:30. At that point my wife and i decided that there was no way we were staying two nights so i cancelled the second night before it was too late. We then proceeded to inspect the room as my wife found a pubic hair on the side of the bath, i then killed a second wasp, the bed had a curve in the middle indicating that they are old, it also had reddish orange stains all around the box spring and at this time i didn't even dare check under the sheets, when i pulled the covers down there was a clump of hair stuck to the sheets, the coffee machine was still dirty with coffee stains all over it, the wall paper was peeling in the bathroom, scuff marks decorated the room walls. Now my wife and i were ready to just leave, so we packed up and checked out at 6:30. 250$ down the drain but at least we didn't have to worry if anything was going to crawl on us as we were sleeping. Very unprofessional as no attempt was made to rectify the problem. Anyways the only thing they could have done was to give me a complete refund which was never proposed.
The new manager on duty could only say sorry, so if you already live in a pig pen this place might be paradise for you cockroaches but a hell hole for tourists who drove 6 hours for a fun and wild adventure. Deeply disappointed and will ensure to spread the word till the day i die and i'm still in my early 30's. NEVER NEVER NEVER. Save your money and always always check for the reviews. Pay a little more for a different hotel.
