“Best Place to Stay in Niagara”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 June 2010

Blairpen House is my favorite place to stay in Niagara on the Lake, and I've stayed in a LOT of places there. The rooms are spotless and quiet, and the beds are extremely comfortable. The breakfast is great - I'm picky about what I eat, and they offer a great selection; something for every taste. The location is perfect for the theaters - between the Festival and the other two, but a block or so behind the "main" street where the traffic is. Parking is included, which isn't always the case in NOTL, and the owners are so friendly and helpful about recommending restaurants, wineries, fruit stands, things to do, as well as loaning umbrellas and whatever else I forget.

It's really so welcoming and comfortable. I wish every hotel I stayed at was this nice.

“Fabulous find - will be back!”

We came to Niagara-on-the-Lake for a sailing regatta and didn't know ahead of time whether we would be on the Canadian or US side of the river - so we came without reservations. We found Blairpen on the internet and didn't know what to expect.

We felt welcome from the first telephone call - right through to check out. The inn was so quiet at night you wouldn't know that others were there. The room was comfortable in every way. Breakfast was fabulous (very important for the sailor who was going out to compete all day).

Having a quiet balcony to sit outside was a treat. And walking distance to the restaurants and main street was great.

Excellent value for the price - we will be back and will recommend Blairpen to others.

“Perfect Little B&B in Every Way”

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Blairpen House the last weekend in April. Now, I had read from other reviews about the looks of the place from the outside. I will be the first to say that looks can be deceiving. The rooms are perfect and each offer either a walk out patio or deck/balcony. The garden is cute and I can only imagine how beautiful it would be in the summer. Tim, the owner, is as nice a person as you will ever meet and will go to great lengths to insure that your stay is as comfortable and trouble free as you need.

Truly, this was an amazing find and considering it was only one block from the main strip, it was a perfect location. The continental breakfast is way better than most places I have visited.

There is not even one thing I could say to make this better. Overall I give this place a perfect score and will most certainly be back!

Just returned from 2 wonderfully relaxing days at The Blairpen House.
My wife and I wanted a very quiet getaway for two, and that is exactly what we had.
The tangled gardens and patio was as if it had been picked up from Southern France and dropped in Niagara on the Lake. No manicured gardens here, just lush masses of pots, plants, bamboo and a confusion of greensin the square. Very private balcony overlooking the central patio where you can just sit and relax and read your afternoon away (which is exactly what we did).
The rooms are very clean and a good size and tastefully decorated. The bathrooms are extremely clean with plenty of towels supplied every day.
Coffee and tea is set out at 7am every morning, which we had on our balcony while we read the morning paper.
Continental breakfast is served between 8and 10am. Breakfast included 3 varieties of cereal, fresh baked bread from the local bakery, yogurt, rolls , banana bread, ham and cheese if you so wished. Lots to choose from in a lovely dining area.
The 2 main rooms are warm and inviting and wonderfully decorated, not that we spent much time inside.
Tim, the owner was a wondeful host with always time to stop and chat during his busy day whether he was off to the local blueberry patch to purchase a large basket of berries for the next mornings fruit bowl offering at breakfast or offering an idea as to where to go for dinner.
The Inn is a short walk to the Festival Theatre and Main Street with its many Shoppes and Restaurants.
Overall, I would suggest The Blairpen House to anyone that wants to get away and just relax.

“Loved this charming B&B”

My wife and I stayed at the Blairpen House for one night in August and had a wonderful experience. We arrived in Niagara-on-the-Lake without reservations and stayed at the Best Western Colonel Butler Inn our first night and the Blairpen House our second night. The Blairpen House was significantly cheaper than the Best Western and provided a much more charming experience (and much better value overall) - we will definitely stay at the Blairpen again if we return to the area.

The Inn is tucked away on a quiet residential street just a couple short blocks from the main shopping/restaurant area of the town. The Inn is also an easy walk from the main theater of the Shaw Festival. Tim Rigg from the Blairpen House greeted us upon arrival and was the perfect host - very welcoming and he immediately made us feel right at home in his Inn.

Our room was basic and very comfortable. The room was very clean and well kept. We had a small balcony off the back of our room with a small table and chairs, our balcony overlooked a charming patio below but provided enough privacy for us to enjoy a glass of wine and read in the afternoon. Breakfast was very good, offering a wide variety of fresh fruit, breads, and croissants, as well as yogurt, cheese, turkey, and ham slices, and coffee and juices. And Tim Riggs and the rest of the staff were very friendly throughout our stay.

We highly recommend the Blairpen House based on our experience - great location, friendly staff, very good breakfast, and for the rate we're not aware of a better value in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
