“A simple luxury”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2008

I have stayed at Fawlty Towers for several years. My friend and I travel to Niagara-on-the-Lake each year, mainly for the theatre experience.
Fawlty Towers is any excellent B&B! I have recommended it to my friends.
The home appears like any other home in the immediately neighborhood and inside is very clean, tastefully decorated and roomy.
The proprietors of the B&B, Margaret and Gerry are delightful, friendly and quite accommodating to their guests.
The breakfasts Margaret prepares are excellent , delicious and filling as well.
The short walk into the quaint town is a pleasure if one enjoys scenic gardens and well-kept homes.
Our reservations are already made for Oct 2009 at Fawlty Towers!

“Love the Fawlty Towers B and B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2008

My friend and i have stayed at the Fawlty Towers B and B every year for the past eight years. We usually spend two nights there, we travel to Niagara on the Lake to attend the theater. We love staying there. The accomodations are very comfortable, restful, and extremely clean. Fawlty Towers is withing walking distance of the theater, restaurants, and shopping. The owners, Margaret and Gerry, are very gracious. They can provide tips and help on where to go, what to see, and what other guests have said about
the plays that are now showing. The highlight of our stay is breakfast. Margaret is a fabulous cook, and breakfast is delicious. My friend and I have already booked our stay (our 9th year in a row) there for September, 2009. I can highly recommend Fawlty Towers for your stay in Niagara on the Lake.

“Shocked”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2008

October, 2008
My Husband and I along with another couple took a 17 day trip to New England and Canada. We carefully chose some bed and breakfast Inns to stay in along our route. We thought it would be a neat experience and, for the most part, it was. Until we got to "Faulty Towers" in Niagara-on-the-Lake. This is a simple home in a simple neighborhood NOT within walking distance of the beautiful town, certainly not for Seniors. In no way could it be described as a typical B&B. When we set the GPS for the address and drove up to the house I could not believe my eyes, surely it was a mistake. When I knocked on the door and asked if this could possibly be "Faulty Towers" (the name alone is misleading), the nice man told me it was. It is obvious why they do not post a picture of the front of the home on line. I let he and his wife know that it was not what we expected, and we would prefer not to stay there. I also mentioned that we had been very careful to be within walking distance of town, and it obviously was not. It did not sway them, we were told that we would be charged if we chose not to stay there. So of course we stayed.
It was a strained stay, feeling like we were intruding on someone's home, or that we were staying with distant relatives. It was very clean, the rooms were comfortable for the most part and the food was good. But, we were asked to remove our shoes at the door, used slippers were offered. We were told to pay in cash, and we were not prepared for this. And to top it off we were told that there were no keys to our room so please don't lock the doors, none of these things are mentioned on the web site. The "inn keepers" need to put everything on the web site and then people would decide if this is the experience they are looking for. Would I recommend this so called B&B? Never!
There are beautiful hotels in the middle of town for just a few dollars more. It put a real damper on our whole experience at Niagara-on-the-lake.

“Intimate and comfortable”

This rather small home is unrecognizable as a B&B from the outside. It fits right into a residential part of NOTL. This is clearly a home where the owners have invited you in. It is simply impossible to have an anonymous experience here. All that being said, if you don't mind the "coziness", the room was impeccably clean and the bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in. Simply wonderful conditions...and the breakfasts were marvelous!! My companion and I sat for breakfast with the other four guests at the appointed time (do not be late - breakfast is clearly an event you are expected to attend). We skipped lunch one day because the food was so plentiful. Fresh fruits and baked goods, eggs, yogurt, granola - wonderful.
Although NOTLis a very safe little town, I wasn't real comfortable leaving my room or the house(!) unlocked at all times. There are so many great B&Bs to choose from in NOTL and although I will likely experience another one next time, you will not have much to complain about if you stay here. Very nice.

  • Liked — Bed (very clean and comfortable) and Breakfast (delicious and plentiful)
  • Disliked — Small home, no possibility of privacy unless you stay in your room.
