“Nice But Nothing Special”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

Very nice hotel, rooms were spacious, bed was comfortable, rate was nice, location was pretty ideal right off of the QEW and near some fast food options. Exactly what I expected from an HGI, always a solid experience. Had breakfast in the morning for free (am a HHonors Gold Member) and it was okay, nothing special, probably not worth $13, but that is typical of hotel breakfasts.

“Location close to Niagara Falls & Niagara on the Lake”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

Pleasant service as always! Food in the onsite restaurant is excellent and reasonable!
We stayed in a King room - BED WAS THE MOST COMFORTABLE SLEEP EVER!!!!
Not alot in the immediate vicinity in terms of entertainment or food choices but it certainly close to both Niagara Falls (approx 15 mins) and Niagara on the Lake (approx 15 mins)
Great stay - we will return.

“First Time at a HGI.”

Although I've been a Hilton Honors member since 1992, and have stayed at many of the different categories of Hilton properties, my wife and I have never stayed at a Hilton Garden Inn on any of our travels over the years. That said, our first stay at the Hilton Garden Inn at Niagara-on-the-Lake was a pleasant surprise for this mid-priced property in the Hilton family.

Arriving a bit later then we had expected last week, we were initially disappointed to find that our king room request had already been allocated to another guest. But the young lady at the desk, Kate, who was very friendly and helpful, assured us that the two bedded room would be just as nice, with a good view of the ravine at the back of the property. In addition, she dropped our rate to the lower doubles rate without my even asking for the change, and was quick to explain the property's amenities to us. As my wife and I are both smokers, and as there are only a very limited amount of smoking rooms available in the property, we understood and accepted the change of rooms still available at the time.

First impression of our room was that it was a bit small, but still comfortable, and more importantly for us, it was spotlessly clean and sufficient for a short stay. Probably would have seemed larger had we gotten the one king bed, but we'll see on our next trip there. My wife loved the Higgins and Burke coffee provided in the room, and we asked for and promptly received a few extra packets of coffee for later in the evening and the morning.

As it had been a long day for us due to traffic jams on the way down, we opted to try the property's restaurant for dinner rather then hunt for a restaurant in the area. Although the menu is a bit limited, the choices for us (fish and chips, haddock for my wife; and sole stuffed with crabmeat, shrimp and scallops for me) were well prepared and tasty besides being reasonably priced. Service was efficient and friendly.

We found the beds comfortable with the adjustable mattresses, and the room was very quiet all evening with no outside noise noticeable from the hallway or other rooms on our floor. Result was a good night's sleep for us.

Our view of the ravine out our window was kind of sparce with the trees being without leaves at this time of year, but we could see how the spring, summer, and fall foilage there could be a relaxing view from the rooms facing the ravine.

Buffet breakfast (hot prepared egg dishes included) is $12.95 per person, but as a Hilton Honors gold member I was given the option of either Hilton bonus points for our stay or complimentary breakfast for my wife and me, and I chose the latter. Buffet breakfast was fine, nothing unusual as buffet's go, but sufficient to keep us going until later in the day.

All in all, a very comfortable, reasonably priced property (note that summer rates are higher, with the usual influx of tourists to NOTL and NF), but we'll definately be staying there again on our travels to the area. A very short distance away from the hustle and glitter of Niagara Falls itself, but a quiet, comfortable choice for a nearby stay in both NOTL and NF. Staff is very friendly and accomodating, and amenites are fine.

Room Tip: Be sure to grab a couple of their chocolate chip cookies in the lobby when they leave them out after...

“Nice weekend away.....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 December 2011

It was our 19th year anniversary and we normally take off to some nearby location( nearby meaning within a 3hrs drive from home ). Niagara on the Lake is where these trips started and our home away from home was called The Saltbox Inn. It was outstanding in every way!!! It has since closed so we ventured out to the Muskoka's last year ( read my review on that trip if you're heading up that way ). This year it was booked solid so we looked at Niagara on the Lake again and that brought us to the Hilton Garden Inn.

The Hilton Garden Inn was perfect for what we were looking for. It was close enough to Niagara on the Lake and Niagara Fall that driving to those locations along Niagara Parkway only added to what was going to be another good time away. The inn is a simple one. It was clean, quiet, had a pool and the price was considerably cheaper than NOTL. I would certainly recommend the inn if you want to save a bit of cash and still stay in a place that is up to standard.

Cheers,
Tim

When in the niagara on the lake area, we always stay at the hilton Garden inn... the beds are 2nd to none, with a pillow top cover, the managment is good and helpfull, the resteraunt is fair, we ate there one thankgiving evening and lets just say that my lady had a talk with the chef... on how to correct the flavour.
Right across the road is some quick eating places, like tim's, a pizza shop, gas bar etc... the hotel is basically in the wine country area and everything is fairly close... this hotel is just litterally a minute off the the hwy, but the room are quiet, clean and welcoming.

Room Tip: save points with hilton honours card for free night stays and use your CAA/AAA card to save even mor...
