We were guests of Ian and Liz at the end of May and stayed in the Perfect Dawn room. There was a previous review on this site which said that Redwood Garden 'Had raised the bar for B & B's' I would consider this to be an understatement, I think Ian and Liz have rewritten the book!
The Perfect Dawn room has doors to the guest garden area, with a small table and chairs. We sat here most evenings after busy days sightseeing, and were rewarded with sightings of a chipmunk, Red Cardinals and Blackbirds (or Canadian equivalents!) It was a little haven to quiet and calm. There is a shared lounge with TV and a good selection of books and magazines. Here you wll have the opportunity to meet the guests staying in the Morning Mist room over a cup of early tea or coffee pre-breakfast.
The room is very spacious with plenty of hanging and storage space, with good quality furniture and luxurious bedding .
The bathroom is large with a real soaker of a shower! and again luxurious quality towels.
Breakfast is served in the open plan area upstairs where your senses will be tantalized with the aroma of your breakfast being prepared before your eyes. Fresh fruit and yoghurt is followed by a hot dish, the scrambled eggs are exquisite but so is everything we were served! with plenty of tea, coffee and fruit juice too. You are also treated to a birds eye view of the lovely garden, (note for previous reviewer we saw Mr. Fox one morning from the Breakfast Room window!)
As for your hosts, Ian and Liz, you will not find more congenial hosts than this couple. They are knowlegable about the area and their advise and tips are invaluable. They advised us to buy the package for the Falls sights which includes free parking at certain places and a hop on hop off bus for the attractions, a bargain for what is included in your ticket.
We booked four nights but couldn't bear to leave, unbelievably there was a vacancy for our room for one more night, so we took it!
Redwood Garden is situated just a few hundred yards from Lake Ontario, the view from the park area is beautiful. The idylic town of Niagara on the Lake, where everything moves at a slow and sedate pace is a real gem, even though you are just half an hour drive, through lovely countryside from the Canadian Niagara Falls, which are spectacular. You will also find plenty of good quality and affordable restaurants and pubs in Niagara on the Lake.
I cannot recommend Redwood Garden highly enough, it is perfect for a few days to see the Falls and perhaps take in some wine tasting, or for a longer break to really get to know the area. You certainly will be made welcome and valued by your Hosts.
