“Simply the best in Niagara on the Lake”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2010

I really don't understand how come this place is not ranked number 1? We stayed somewhere else last year that was, and frankly, they don't compare! Everything is perfect about this place. The location is a block from town, so we hardly used our car, and a block from the lake. The room was exquisite, with our own private patio and garden. The bed was super comfortable and everything was clean as a whistle. The breakfast was divine and most of all the hosts made it memorable -- warm, kind, helpful, interesting, welcoming! This will be our go-to place from in Niagara on the Lake from now on! You should look no farther.

“Redwood Garden, a little bit of heaven!”

We were guests of Ian and Liz at the end of May and stayed in the Perfect Dawn room. There was a previous review on this site which said that Redwood Garden 'Had raised the bar for B & B's' I would consider this to be an understatement, I think Ian and Liz have rewritten the book!

The Perfect Dawn room has doors to the guest garden area, with a small table and chairs. We sat here most evenings after busy days sightseeing, and were rewarded with sightings of a chipmunk, Red Cardinals and Blackbirds (or Canadian equivalents!) It was a little haven to quiet and calm. There is a shared lounge with TV and a good selection of books and magazines. Here you wll have the opportunity to meet the guests staying in the Morning Mist room over a cup of early tea or coffee pre-breakfast.

The room is very spacious with plenty of hanging and storage space, with good quality furniture and luxurious bedding .

The bathroom is large with a real soaker of a shower! and again luxurious quality towels.

Breakfast is served in the open plan area upstairs where your senses will be tantalized with the aroma of your breakfast being prepared before your eyes. Fresh fruit and yoghurt is followed by a hot dish, the scrambled eggs are exquisite but so is everything we were served! with plenty of tea, coffee and fruit juice too. You are also treated to a birds eye view of the lovely garden, (note for previous reviewer we saw Mr. Fox one morning from the Breakfast Room window!)

As for your hosts, Ian and Liz, you will not find more congenial hosts than this couple. They are knowlegable about the area and their advise and tips are invaluable. They advised us to buy the package for the Falls sights which includes free parking at certain places and a hop on hop off bus for the attractions, a bargain for what is included in your ticket.

We booked four nights but couldn't bear to leave, unbelievably there was a vacancy for our room for one more night, so we took it!

Redwood Garden is situated just a few hundred yards from Lake Ontario, the view from the park area is beautiful. The idylic town of Niagara on the Lake, where everything moves at a slow and sedate pace is a real gem, even though you are just half an hour drive, through lovely countryside from the Canadian Niagara Falls, which are spectacular. You will also find plenty of good quality and affordable restaurants and pubs in Niagara on the Lake.

I cannot recommend Redwood Garden highly enough, it is perfect for a few days to see the Falls and perhaps take in some wine tasting, or for a longer break to really get to know the area. You certainly will be made welcome and valued by your Hosts.

“Outstanding Accommodation & Friendly Hosts”

I had the pleasure of celebrating my birthday weekend with my wife at Redwood Garden in Niagara on the Lake. We stayed in the Perfect Dawn bedroom and it was absolutely pristine. The walk out to the garden was an added pleasure as we spent our early mornings reading amongst the flowers & chirping birds.

Each morning we enjoyed a delicious breakfast and great conversation with our endearing hosts, Ian & Liz - What a wonderful way to start our days in such a beautiful town.

My wife and I are already looking forward to our next visit to Redwood Garden B&B!

My hubby and I spent 3 days at the Redwoods the end of April and are missing it so much. The quiet ambiance, the comfortable bed, the best breakfasts ever, but more than anything, our wonderful hosts. Ian and Liz, what can we say that we haven't already said to you? You are two of the most sincere people we have ever met! Missing our chats over coffee in the morning! We will be back to see your beautful gardens in full bloom. Just keep doing what you're doing, because you have it perfected!! Say hi to Mr. Fox if you see him!

“Redwood Garden sets the bar for Bed & Breakfasts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 December 2009

I have stayed in Bed & Breakfast accommodations prior to this trip to Niagara-on-the-Lake, however I've never encountered such a 5-star location. My girlfriend and I made the trip to Niagara region to relax for the weekend and take in some wine-tasting and delicious food. After spending about a week scouring the internet for somewhere to stay, I finally settled on Redwood Garden thanks to some great reviews, and they were truly spot-on.

We arrived quite early, several hours prior to check-in, however we were permitted to park our car in the driveway as we left on a wine tour for the day. Upon returning, we met with Liz, who gave us the tour of our accommodations, which were immaculate. We stayed in the 'Perfect Dawn' room, and while we weren't able to make full use of the beautiful backyard access through the french doors in our room, the view was wonderful to wake up to and the ensuite bathroom was spotless and very modern. Furthermore, the bed was more comfortable than my own at home and most other beds I have slept in. I have never had such a difficult time waking up from an afternoon nap!

The common area, for guests, is accessible to both rooms, however we were the only guests this weekend. Private access to our rooms was also available, which made our comings and goings easy and non-disruptive.

Last, but definitely not least, breakfast was phenomenal. Best and fluffiest eggs I have ever tasted, and the company was great too. Speaking with Ian and Liz in the morning was a pleasure, as they were both curious to hear about us and generous with sharing their own stories.

Thank you Liz and Ian for a wonderful stay. We are both very grateful, and have already begun passing recommendations to our friends and families.
