“Lovely location, fabulous food and hospitable hosts!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

We thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Niagara-on-the-late thanks to our welcoming hosts, Ian and Liz. They were so friendly and helpful planning our visit before we even arrived in town. They have a beautiful home with very very comfortable beds! The food was fantastic and they were very accommodating to my dairy and egg allergies - I didn't feel like I was missing out on anything delicious that other people were having. A hop, skip and a jump to the beautiful lakeside and a short walk in the other direction to the town centre. Perfect location!! We were there for 2 nights and visited 6 wineries. We would definitely come back again. I can just imagine how beautiful it must be in the summer.
Other things we appreciated: DVD selection, cable, high-power shower, eco-friendly low-flush toilets, fireplace in common room, complimentary bottled water, hand/shower soap, parking spot, the delicious breakfast bread, feeling safe and comfortable leaving belongings in our rooms.
Thanks again, Ian and Liz!

Room Tip: Perfect Dawn room has a walk-out terrace which may be very nice in the warmer months.

“Outstanding”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 July 2011

This was my first Bed and Breakfast vacation. My boyfriend has stayed in them in the past but I was a newbie. I chose Redwood based on only their website and I was beyond thrilled with our experience. Ian and Liz were outstanding hosts and made my first time at a B&B comfortable and fantastic. Their accommodations were perfect for the two of us (modern bedroom/bathroom, wine glasses and opener, wine chiller for all the goodies we bought throughout our trip, guest lounge area, patio area and separate entrance). Our stay included a fabulous breakfast upstairs and coffee outside our room at 8am. We were alone the first night but a wonderful couple from NYC joined us on our last day. I couldn't have been happier with Liz and Ian's conversation and help planning our day in NIagara. They gave us fantastic tips for wineries which even included some free tasting cards to truly enjoy our travels.

If we ever decide to stay at Niagara on the Lake again I will definitely be staying with Ian and Liz at Redwood Garden. Highly recommend especially for the beginner!

Room Tip: we stayed in the Morning Mist room and it was fantastic.

“Beautifully maintained property”

My wife and I have stayed at the Redwood Garden B & B (3 4 days) annually in June or September for the past 7 years. We primarily are in Niagara on the Lake (NOTL) to attend Shaw Festival plays. We have been coming to NOTL for 15 years and this is the fourth B & B where we have stayed. From the standpoint of convenience it just cannot be beaten, since it is walking distance to the 3 Shaw theaters and half a block from a park bordering Lake Ontario. It is also walking distance from all the downtown restaurants.

While location is important what is more important in a B & B are the hosts' personalities, knowledge, attention to detail, and ability to provide you with a variety of enjoyable breakfasts. Liz and Ian are outstanding in each of these categories. Originally from Great Britain (Ian is a retired policeman and Liz a retired nurse), they have had their B & B for the past 10 years and are extremely knowledgeable about the area attractions and activities. Their B & B has two guest rooms. In addition, there is a shared TV/living room with a wine cooler where tea and coffee are served each morning before breakfast and a lovely garden where guests can sit and read or enjoy a glass of wine.

The guest rooms are meticulously clean and very comfortable. Breakfast is served at 9:00 and is a multi-course gourmet meal. In addition to the Shaw Festival plays there are over 40 wineries in the area (wine tours are available), and some have outstanding restaurants, interesting little shops and lovely tree-lined streets for your daily walk. Niagara Falls which is 30 minutes away offers a world of activities including a casino. The area also has wonderful hiking and biking trails.

Room Tip: Perfect Dawn, slightly larger, opens onto garden

“Beautiful, tranquil and welcoming”

Ian and Liz have created a perfect haven for travellers with bright sunny rooms, sumptuous bedding, delicious food and genuine hospitality. My husband and I don't often get a chance to step away from our busy lives (and our beautiful kids), so we had high hopes for our two-day getaway in Niagara-on-the-Lake. The picturesque garden was a lovely place for us to sit and chat, and the proximity to all the wonderful shops and cafes gave us plenty of opportunity to stroll hand-in-hand and just enjoy one another's company. Thank you, Ian and Liz for providing us thee perfect setting to fall in love again!

“Fabulous B&B !”

We booked this B&B last minute, about 3 weeks prior, and realise how lucky we were to get in. The rooms were a good size with very comfy beds. There were tables set outside in the garden, to drink your morning coffee. It had a lovely sized sitting room equipped with tv, magasines, dvd player and even glasses and a wine cooler, to enjoy your recently bought wine from the wineries in that region!. As we had booked both rooms it felt like a home from home, having a part of the house all to ourselves.
The owners, Liz and Ian, were so friendly and welcoming. When we arrived on Friday evening they offered us a cup of tea/coffee, a nice touch. The breakfasts were delicious.
