“romantic inn”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2011

My husband and I stayed at the Charles Inn in Dec.2010, the ambiance of the inn was very warm and cozy, We stayed in the Newark Room, it had a real wood burning fireplace and balcony. The food was excellent and the people were very friendly I would recommend anyone going to Niagara on the lake to stay at the Charles Inn you will have a wonderful stay.

“Terrific New Years Getaway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2011

My husband and I took a short getaway to stay at The Charles Inn. The service and ambiance was wonderful. There was welcome gifts for us and the dining room food is fabulous - just about the best we have ever had. The only drawback was the room we stayed in, The Safari Loft. It was advertised as a Superior room, however, there are issues with the water temperature in the bathroom, especially when the kitchen is pulling a lot of hot water. I recommend the inn investigate an upgrade to the water system so guests do not have to experience cold showers. Otherwise a perfect visit.

“Wonderful place to stay for a mini getaway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2011

We stayed for a couple of nights at the Charles Inn. The wait staff at the restaurant were very attentive both for breakfast and for dinner. The food was spectacular and the ambiance - romantic. Breakfast was continental and the same for both mornings. It consisted of ham, cheese, boiled eggs, yogurt parfait, fruits, cereal and croissants. They also had a hot menu option at an extra cost I'm sure.

The Inn itself is very charming with a lot of character. Our room was nicely decorated and comfortable with unlimited logs for the fireplace. The only disappointment for me was a few things that were advertised on the website were not available in the guest rooms like the Aveda bath products, music CD was not there, and no daily newspaper delivered to our door. They also said the bathroom floor was heated, but I didn't feel it nor saw a switch for it. For the amount of money we paid I would have expected all of the things that were advertised on their website, as that was part of the reason I chose the Charles Inn over their sister hotel. They should either update their website or stick to what it says, or people will begin to think they are false advertising.

The front desk staff were very courteous and professional. There was an error made on our bill and they fixed the problem immediately.

“Our favorite NOTL spot.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2011

We returned to the Charles Inn for a quick post-Christmas getaway and were just as impressed the second time. On our first visit a few years ago we stayed in the Safari Room and we downsized this time to the Onigahara Room. I like that there is a range of rooms with different pricing to choose from. We didn't want to spend as much this time but we were happy in our cozy room. The wood burning fireplace was a nice addition to our stay since we were staying in the winter this time. I love the extra touches (homemade cookies, personalized notes, a little welcome back treat) and think these gestures really go a long way in making a stay at this inn unique. We had dinner at the restaurant and the food never disappoints. It's unforgettable! We fully intend on returning to the Charles Inn and trying a new room each time we visit. The continental breakfast has been expanded since our last stay which we appreciated. It was sufficient before but the extra platter was much appreciated! Added touches like this really go a long way.

The room was lovely, and a nice bottle of red wine/with the glasses awaited us for our anniversary! Warm and cozy with beautiful view! Our dinner was amazing and the flight of wines matched our meal perfectly!
Very romantic! and the breakfast was perfect! Love the french press coffee left on our table...
We think we shall make this our anniversary place! and now going into our 46th year!
