“A Pleasant Surprise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

My husband and I decided at the last minute to enjoy a brief getaway to NOTL. We've been many times and stayed at many different B&Bs as well as some of the hotels. It was very hard to get a booking as most places only take 2 night minimums. By chance, I happened upon the website of the Rogers Harrison House and fortunately there was a suite available with a king size bed (one of our requirements).
What a pleasant surprise!! This establishment is in an excellent location (we must have walked past it dozens of times without knowing) right on Queen Street (the main street) but not right on top of all the stores. There is a lovely garden which we could tell would be beautiful in spring and summer; the house itself is beautifully restored - keeping the historical points of interest but incorporating modern amenities and the suite we were given (the Harrison) was very spacious. Aside from the king bed (in a lovely and very clean room), there was (in the living room area) a large couch, dresser, small tables and a very clear TV and DVD player and some DVDs (we had our own). The bathroom was very large too - and also very clean.
The hosts Marilyn and Peter were so warm and friendly and helpful and the breakfast (fresh fruit and yogurt, croissants with homemade jam and eggs benedict) was fantastic. Coffee and Tea were also served - everything done in the beautiful, traditional dining room.
Overall the ambience was very comfortable and not as snobbish as some of the other 'posh' B&Bs where we've stayed but felt rather detached (eg. Lakewinds).

A few tips - bring your own water or cold beverages - there are no mid-day refreshments (coffee, drinks or munchies). The Valu Mart Food store is just a minute away but in the colder weather especially, it would be nice to know you could get a cup of coffee on site. There was only one garbage pail (very small) in the bathroom - one more would have helped. We found the door lock to the bathroom didn't work properly (you'd be stuck inside) and the room door lock was a bit jiggly and awkward (we used the interior bolt). Payment is made only through cash or cheque (luckily I had my check book) but of course bank machines are down the street.

I'd highly recommend this lovely, friendly and very clean B&B - it's a tremendous value (way more reasonable than most) considering you are getting exceptionally nice rooms, a fabulous location and a delicious breakfast!

“Great location, beautiful period property”

The Rogers-Harrison House B&B is a lovingly renovated period property. Rooms are very large with en-suite bathrooms, TVs, airconditioning and full of period character and charm. We loved our room, with its huge bed, separate living area and large bathroom with bath and shower. Breakfast was served by the lovely host and was unique and tasty, full of fresh ingredients. The location of this B&B, right on the main road into town just down from the shops, was perfect for a short stay. A little pricey but very, very nice and homely.

“historic bed and breakfast with good food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 August 2011

Marilyn and Peter are great hosts. Comfortable beds, delicious hot breakfasts, and fresh fruit were highlights. Their clean rooms are a plus too! I was very curious about the vintage upright piano and the harpsichord that was built by Peter. These instruments were available to guests so bring your sheet music. We'd like to go back in the wintertime. A glass of Niagara wine by the fireplace and a nice soak in the tub sounds just about right to me!

“Valentine's Day Delight”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 February 2009

After reviewing many of the websites for B and Bs in Niagara on the lake, we decided upon the Rogers Harrison house. We left very happy with our decision.

Peter and Marilyn were wonderful hosts. They are very personable and attentive and went out of their way to ensure that we felt at home.

We were very pleased with the location. The B and B is on the edge of the main street, however, given that all the shops and restaraunts are within a half mile, everything in the main area of town is within walking distance.

Our room was the Blake room and we enjoyed the jacuzzi, fireplace and canopy bed. The house is full of history and is very comfortable. Our stay did include a full breakfast. The food was delicious.

I would recommend the Rogers-Harrison house to any of my friends.

“Great in every way”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 June 2008

It should first be noted that Rogers Harrison House is actually a B&B, not a hotel. That said, whatever category it is in, it is wonderful. My partner and I have stayed there several times over the past ten years or so, and we have always been greeted warmly and treated very well - and fed very well. We have stayed in three of the four rooms; they are all very spacious; each is different in character and decoration, but they are all very well appointed and absolutely immaculate. The house is located on the main street in NOTL, easy walking distance to the theatres, restaurants, and shops. The food is superb, and when the weather is good, breakfast is served on the patio (which is secluded and a great place to relax on a warm summer night). The hosts, Peter and Marilyn, are very helpful and will provide great advice about things to see, where to eat, etc.. We had some wine we really enjoyed at dinner one night and asked Peter if he knew where the winery was; he didn't but found the phone number and phoned the winery to get directions for us. There are hundreds of B&Bs in NOTL, but we keep going back to the Rogers Harrison House because we have such great experiences there.
