First of all I'm glad we stayed on the Canadian side. Getting over to Canada was easy as usual - just bring your passport. Getting into Canada is much easier than say Mexico, or Europe. The US side doesn't have the full view like the Canadian side does. .
We stayed here Aug. 11th-14th. Myself, 14 yr daughter, & my husband. The hotel was average. The rm was average- we had a view of the Hard Rock Cafe. The free breakfast was standard for this type of hotel. There were problems w/ the elevators & always a long wait. I think the hotel was at 100% occupancy therefore these things happen. Lots of kids running around. Would have liked less commotion so to speak. The pool/hot tub were clean & nice & actually didn't have a bunch of kids in them for the most part. In the end, the hotel was "average".
Niagara Falls itself is wonderful. Did all the usual tourist tours. Loved the "Thunder behind the Falls". We also went to the Skylon Dinner Revolving Restaurant & Wow the views were stupendous! The price was very high- right at $400 for the meals/ride up & a few drinks. But it was worth it. Even our teenager thought it was 'cool'. The main park across from Horseshoe Falls is beautiful.
What I didn't like regarding the hotel was the area it was in. Kids & many families would disagree w/ me, but it was like a carnival or circus getting from the hotel to the Falls. It drove me crazy to have all the carnival barkers, haunted houses, tatoo parlors, you name it blasting you w/ music, pulling you inside their places, etc. . But, many people seemed to love it --so live & let live. I would stay on the opposite side of the Falls nearer the nicer hotels & actual Falls if I had to do it again- Near where the Skylon is located.
