“The REAL review”

I just stayed at the hotel this past weekend, Aug 7-9, and 2 stars is accurate. There were several problems: 1-their website offers a package that includes dinner, which I booked but upon check-in they would not honor it. They didn't even know they had a website which I pulled up on their lobby computer. They saw it and said they would get back to me but never did. When I called them back they said yes it's on there but it's not available and I had to show proof that I booked it in order for them to honor. Since I never received an email confirmation as promised, that wasn't possible. Now I know why i never got a confirmation. 2- The room wasn't ready when we arrived, so we waited approx 5 minutes for housekeeping to get it ready. At first it seemed very clean and nice. We turned the air on and left . Upon return, room smelled moldy. I am allergic to mold so my allergies were going crazy the entire weekend. The carpet was outdoor carpet with no padding so it was uncomfortable to walk on and was old and dingy, but was vacuumed clean.
Overall, the hotel staff was friendly, but let you know that is was a "budget" hotel. They were not going over and above for anything. I was sitting in the lobby and overheard a couple ask for a cork screw, response was we only have 1 and it's being used but you can walk to the store 2 blocks over and buy one.
I regret, regret, regret not staying somewhere else, getting a nice package that included breakfast, dinner and some activities. This hotel was $266 for the 2 nights and did not include anything. For $200 more we could have stayed closer to the Falls, gotten all meals included and the Great Gorge package. We spent approx $200 in meals alone!!!
The hotel is not as close as you think. It's at the end of the American Falls behind the old Casino. So it is approx a 2 1/2 mile walk to the Canadian Falls. A plus was the jacuzzi in the room. It felt good after walking all day to come back to. The beds were comfy and we slept very well.
Overall I give it a 2. I would not stay there again because I like to have more accomodations and though we didn't spend much time in the room, who wants to spend anytime in a smelly room. My allergies are still trying to recovery. The sister hotel, Comfort Inn & Suites was very nice, but I wouldn't stay there because it's overpriced for the location.

“A tad kitsch but good value for money”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2010

We stayed here 3 nights in a jetted tub room with a fancy heart-shaped tub surrounded by a mirrored wall, which is probably the most noteworthy feature of the hotel. I can't say service or cleanliness were excellent, and our room was always smelling with some kind of lemony-caustic soda 'fragrance', possibly derived from some cleaning products used -it was hard to get some fresh air into the room as windows wouldn't open, and the air-conditioning vent in the room hadn't been cleaned in what seemed ages (though it was working). But apart from this and from the occasional dead flies and spiderwebs seen in the corner of the window frames, the room was overall acceptable, the bed was comfy and huge and as I said, the tub provided some added value so I'd definitely recommend to stay in this room. Good value for money if you're looking for a decent place with a funky, 80s twist. Location is also good, you can easily walk to the falls in less than 10 mins and see the very centre of Niagara Falls on the way, with its casinos, attractions and restaurants. Reception in the building was always closed but you could refer to the staff at the neighbouring hotel which is also managing the Inn by the Falls as far as I understand, so no problems with this -they were all friendly and ready to give info/directions, even gave us advice for a trip to Toronto.

“Great hotel, Great Price”

My husband and I stayed at the Inn By The Falls from September 21st-26th for our honeymoon and we had an amazing time.
I reviewed TONS of hotels online and through trip advisor before booking and was someone nervous about booking this hotel as it was such a good price, however, I went ahead and booked anyways...Glad I did.

When we arrived we had to check in through the Country Inn and Suites which is the hotel directly next door which shares the same parking lot and are owned by the same people. Check in was very prompt and all of the staff that we encountered were very friendly. The one thing that they do not tell you when you are booking your reservation is that parking is extra...it costs $6.00 per day..HOWEVER, with that being said once you are there for a few days you will soon realive that you cannot go ANYWHERE in Niagara Falls without paying to park, and the $6.00 per night was a good price.

The hotel offers a contental breakfast through the Country Inn and Suites at an addition cost for Inn by the Falls guests of $6.00 and it is def. worth it as it is a hot and cold buffet. You are also given a key for the Country Inn and Suites to access all of there vending machines, ice machines and pool which is an added bonus.

We stayed in a room that had the heart shaped jacuzzi tub which is def. worth the extra money. The rooms were very clean, spacious and fairly up to date. Always an adequate amount of linens as well. Each room has a back door with access to a back patio as well which has a nice view of the Casino and Fallsview Indoor Waterpark.

This hotel is within walking distance to EVERYTHING you could ever want to do in Niagara Falls..Its is about a 3-4 minute walk from Clifton Inn which is the entertainment district of the Falls and you will find everything there you could ever need...and the hotel is only about 7-8 minutes (walking) from the Falls. We parked our car at the hotel and were able to walk to do just about everything that we wanted to do.

The only downside to staying in Niagara Falls is the cost of food. I think that we spent just as much on recreation stuff as we did on food during the week that we were there...the food is def. well overpriced however, they can do it because everyone needs to eat. So don't eat to much fast food before you go away because it will def. be your best friend when you are there.

Take advantage of all the combination packages that are offered for different events because they are def. worth it as it saves you about 10-20 dollars per person each one you do!

All in all it was an amazing honeymoon and the only bad thing I can say is the cost of food!

“Gets the Job Done”

Inn by the Falls has clean, decent accommodations, good location, and a reasonable price. We were looking for a hotel with a jetted tub, and the heart-shaped tub in our room was straight out of the 70's, but it's kitschy fun. Other than that, there's not a lot to cheer about, but nothing really to jeer about either. It was clean, the bed was reasonably comfortable. The desk duties are handled at the Country Inn & Suites across the parking lot, and you have access to Country Inn's pool, recreation, and vending amenities. Country Inn guests get breakfast for free, but Inn by the Falls guests have to pay $6.00CAD per person for the breakfast - which still isn't a bad deal, all in all. It was a decent spread of hot and cold foods. The tourist district of Clifton Hill and the Falls themselves are in fairly easy walking distance, and if you're down for the Casino action (which I discovered I am not), this is a great location. Like the other reviewers, I found the parking fees ($6.00CAD per night) a bit of a stinger. I knew about that fee before I arrived, but you still hope that by the time you arrive, they've re-thought their policy. It's not a deal breaker, but it is an irritant.

“Enjoyed our lodging for our budget honeymoon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2009

We always said that we should stay at the Inn by the falls for our Honeymoon, and that is exactly what we did. After staying at this Hotel in the summer of 2008 we fell in love with its location, value and Melrose Place charm.

This hotel is the one remaining building from a hotel which occupied the spot at the intersection of victoria and bender. A 3 story walk up with fully renovated interiors Inn by the falls offers the best of both worlds for budget concious travlers. If you don't mind not having a fridge, microwave, iron , in room movies or video games and you can handle stairs, then this is the place for you.

As on our last stay the room met the levels for cleanliness and orderliness that we ourselves expect of any hotel we stay at. Our room had a Heart shaped Jacuzzi tub and one king sized bed, As a nice touch at least both of the Jacuzzi suties we have stayed in have the AC and Heating unit located at the rear of the sutie where there is also an exterio wall, nice if you dont want cold air blowing all over you as you are in bed.

Nothing new has been added and nothing really has been taken away from the suties at Inn by the falls. You can still use the pool, exercise room and ice machine across the parkinglot at the Country In and Suite, but one thing they have done is clarify that a $6.00 continental breakfast is available for 6$ per person each day. All you need to do is go to the front desk of the Country Inn and Suites and buy them.

This was the first time we took the opportunity to eat breakfast there, and we found the food to be more or less passable. The area where you toast your ego waffles, bagels, bread and english muffins is cramped and makes it highly unorgansied, In fact overall the whole breakfast area is chaotic. We went because we were too tired to go out and eat breakfast anywhere else.

If being near clifton hill, and casiono niagara are what you want then both are in walking distance. Convenience stores are also in a short walking distance. Parking whcih is added to your room fees, is 6$ per night.
