“Enjoyable Stay for a Conference”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

Had a 3 night stay here for a conference in November 2011. I understand the hotel had been recently renovated and they did a great job! Rooms were spacious and well appointed. My room wasn't facing the falls, but it would have been a spectacular view on the higher floors. The gym was clean and well equipped. There is a Starbucks in the lobby of the hotel, as well as a Milestones on the second floor. It's a bit of a walk to the actual falls and "city centre" but I imagine in the summer it wouldn't be so bad.

“Ohhhh Thats What The "noise?" Was!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

I took my lady for a quick weekend getaway. Our stay at The Marriot was very enjoyable the room was everything that I booked. Newly renovated, Good food both dinner and breakfast, great view, nice comfy cozy bed. However in the morning half asleep I heard this noise, construction at 7 am on a Sunday? Then I heard it again, what is that? and again and again for about 10 - 15 minutes at a time some louder than others.

We got up at about 9am and I took a shower then I realized what I was hearing: rattling water pipes! It sounded like the pipes were going to burst they were shaking so fiercely behind the walls. Either that or Elvis is stuck in the walls shake rattle and roll baby!

Aside from the pipes we had a good time in a very nice room.

Room Tip: We were in the corner room on the 27th floor.

Dear Trip Advisor Member,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience regarding your recent stay. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your guestroom and stay, except for the noises. I understand how upsetting that would have been for you while you were relaxing on your weekend away. I have shared your comments with our maintenance department. I hope that you will join us again when you are looking for a weekend trip.

“Enjoyable stay, even better once they finish renovating”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

Was at the Marriott Gateway (a former Sheraton property) for a ballroom dance competition. The staff at this hotel are very sincere, helpful and friendly. They were actively working to complete renovations of the main lobby during our stay. I would definitely come back to this property for more visits. They also treat the Marriott Gold Elite members very well. Two very minor issues: 1. consistent wireless internet access throughout the hotel including the meeting area (ballroom) it was frustrating that it worked everywhere except the meeting space. 2. Initially both keycards took 4-5 swipes to open the door, eventually got frustrated and got a second set that works on the first swipe. Other than those minor issues, the rooms were clean, the view was magnificent and the staff warm and friendly.

“Good overall hotel.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

We stayed at this Marriott this past weekend for 2 nights. The hotel room was very comfortable, and a nice size. The in room fridge was very helpful being that we were travelling with a new born. The room also has 42 inch LCD TV with some HD content.

One problem that we encountered was that our room keys would almost never work. It seems as though this is a known problem since the different people we spoke to at the front desk seemed to indicate the room door magnets are weak and did not offer any solutions. They really need to fix this problem.

Overall, I would probably stay here again, FYI, the hotel lobby is under renovations.

Room Tip: There are 2 Marriott's right beside each other, so it can be a bit confusing the first time you...

Dear Trip Advisor Member,

I am happy to hear that you enjoyed the amenities in your guestroom. I understand how frustrating getting keys replaced is and how upsetting that would have been for you and your family, especially when you have a baby with you. I hope that you will consider us again when you return to Niagara Falls.

“Quick Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

My wife and I recently tried one of the Niagara Packages featuring discounts and freebies at the Milestone's and Terrapin Grille at the Marriott Gateway. The hotel is currently undergoing renovations as it was recently changed over from being a Sheraton, however the the ongoing work does not diminish the overall pleasure of the stay significantly. The Milestone's experience was excellent, and a nice bonus is that we could use our voucher for Terrapin on another stay, as we were too full from the morning buffet breakfast to consider eating lunch. The buffet breakfast was not as fancy as some others we've been to at similar hotels, but decent.
The room was somewhat dated, and the only major disappointment was that the water in the shower never really got hot, whereas at the bathroom sink you could scald yourself.
