This is the first winter experience in Niagara Falls, after years of only going in the summer. It was beautiful in winter and not at all crowded. It only makes sense getting a fallsview room though, so you can see the falls from the warmth and comfort of your room.
The room: We feel we had an upgraded room with a separate den and a wonderful view of the horseshoe and American falls. This Marriott room was really clean, and didn’t look dingy or old (like some other Niagara falls room) in any way. Loved it.
Breakfast: Our package came with a buffet breakfast at the hotel’s restaurant. Lots of great selection, made to order eggs/omelettes. Pancakes, waffles, fruit, etc. A very good hearty breakfast. The service was absolutely excellent. We had the same waitress both mornings, and have to say she was spectacular.
Dining voucher: We also received a $40.00 dining voucher for the same hotel restaurant. First, this restaurant is WAY overpriced, so we didn’t bother to go, but found out we could use the same voucher for room service. This is where it gets ridiculous. We ordered two desserts, cheesecake and a pear crepe (both were not good) and a can of gingerale. Believe it or not, the bill came to $38.88. That was the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of. Therefore, the voucher was used up.
Overall: We loved this hotel. The staff everywhere in the hotel greeted us and made us feel welcomed. That goes a long way.
Other tips: Request the highest floor possible. The higher you are the better the view.
If you’re cost conscious, don’t bother using the valet parking at the hotel. It was $20.00+ for the day, as opposed to the casino. We spent $10.00 for the ENTIRE weekend (depends how often you move your car).
The CAA light festival isn’t really that big of a deal. Perhaps if you have kids, otherwise, paying for it not worth it. Just look at the free displays near and around the falls was good enough.
It can get quite cold down there, especially if walking by the falls. Come fully prepared with your winter gear so you can walk around comfortably.
Room Tip: Request the highest floor possible to get a really good view of both the horseshoe and American fall...
