We came to The Glengate for two nights in September 2010 as it had a 7.7 client satisfaction on a scale of 10 at HRS.com. How the Glengate got such a rate is a mystery. The motel has had its best days and is poorly maintained. The next day we cancelled our second night and were happy to leave. This hotel is definitely a never come back accommodation. Staffs are friendly. The hotel is run as a cash cow. Bedding and furniture are not impressive. No sign of any recent repair or renovation in the whole hotel. At the Glengate website the breakfast photo is highly misleading. The complimentary breakfast was poor. Our room stank of cigarette smoke. We required and were given another still smelly room. No fresh air whatsoever as the windows in our room could not open. The hotel offers free parking, with limited space at front parking and plenty of space at the messy empty side next to the hotel.

I was hesitant to stay at the Glengate because I had read the reviews of Bedbugs and cleanliness but we were travelling with our two large dogs so our options were limited. We left all our luggage in the car when we checked in and then proceeded to tear the room apart looking for telltale signs of infestation. The sheets and blanket were fresh and clean as were the towels and absolutely no signs of any bugs. I must admit the bathroom needed a good cleaning so we bought a bottle of Fantastic with bleach. We were staying for 10 days so cleaning the bathroom and countertops made my stay much more pleasurable. Also there was a sock from a previous guest under the bed that remained there for our entire stay although our room was vacuumed and cleaned every day (just not under the bed).
The staff was EXTREMELY nice and helpful in every way possible. The location was great too. Just far enough to be out of the tourist area but close enough to be there in a minute or two. Additionally, there is a large lot behind the hotel that is fantastic for walking the dogs.

We stayed at the Glengate for two nights during our stay in Canada. When we got there we had a lovely greeting by the staff on the front desk and they were very helpful with directions and such.
The room we stayed in was a nice suprise, a very large room and bed with a sofa and tv, good clean bathroom and a dressing area. The room was lovely, it was just a shame really that the other guests spoiled our stay. They stayed up all night partying, knocking on the doors, running up and down the halls and making a nuisance of themselves. Staff did not seem to try and deter them either. We woke up each morning to find the garbage they'd left in the hallway from the night before.
I'm sure this would be a lovely place to stay if it wasn't for the large groups that come and cause problems.

The following: (pls note we are NOT the only couple that has been bitten there are also other reports here, my concern is, what about all those other nice people whoi were also affected but did not post?

Bed Bugs = Bed Bites, my wife and I received more than 400 between the two of us!
(Confirmed by a local family doctor)
SO if you really want to destroy your visit to Niagara Falls then this is the place to stay!
Rates there are lower, this I attributed that it was definitely away from everything. Also I figured this place looks new on the outside, not so new on the inside but from outward appearances it looked tidy and clean. Not knowing what awaited us.

Manager/Co-Owner called me back to ONLY acknowledge the email I had submitted to their hotel. Stating he would have a Pest control company go through the room. My guess is that they found what bit us all over our bodies, but cannot admit this to us, so to date several months later we still have yet to hear from the ownership of this property!

No mention of compensation, you can't even get to know who there insuring company is!

Please be warned / advised, as these bites are worse than a Mosquito bite in that they are more itchy, stay around for about 3-4 weeks. Also, you have the worry and fear that they might be transpported back to your family / home, I have heard some reports of this happening and it costing approx $5000 to have pest control to come in and fumigate their home!!
