“Perfect for my needs”

I found the room was excellent very clean, as well with relocating from Vancouver to London, it had all the furniture I needed, as well as cable. The building was quiet, staff was amazing, and the location was close to my new job and to all downtown stores.

“Not quaint, just old -- but nice people”

Beware of a hotel website that doesn't have pictures. You get what you pay for (about $70/night CDN). The lobby and the hallways were all grungy and looked like the carpet hadn't been replaced in 20 years. The bedrooms were also grungy. My double bed was actually more comfortable than I expected when I first saw it, as it had the infamous dip in the middle that results from cheap mattresses that are never replaced. Shower was bad -- bad water pressure, drastic and sudden changes in temperature, and the shower curtain had no way of sticking to the bottom of the tub so it kept blowing in as I was trying to take a shower. There is a huge pay parking lot next door, but it is inconvenient because you have to put money in the box at bizarre times (11 pm and 7 am). On the positive side, the people at the front desk were very nice and they knew who we were before we even gave our names (because we were the only people checking in that day).

“Not for anyone over the age of 25”

This hotel is in a perfect location for the downtown London pedestrian, and the staff was very friendly. However, our experience was reminiscent of staying at a youth hostel during the Stanley Cup.

Some specific issues: one of two elevators was non-functioning "until further notice". To make this a hundered times worse, the stairwell exit doors were kept locked. Our room's window curtains wouldn't close. The shower was erratically hot-cold-hot-cold. As an added bonus, our next door 'neighbors' were partying in their room until 4am, keeping us from sleeping. The walls are so thin that I could hear every word.

If, however, you don't much care about a reliable elevator, getting rest, a sense of privacy, or a good shower, then this is the place for you.

the park lane hotel has been in london forever! and you can tell.
Unless things have changed, it is a wonderful place and student can call home.

However, the ajoining restaurants and pubs are beyond compare!
