“Unfortunately Only Average”

This is a great old home that could be a great inn and it seems to have been just that at one time. Maybe the depressed economy is taking its toll.

The small touches in the guest rooms are missing so rather than feeling pampered it was like staying at your grandmothers old place.

Breakfast was not good. The sliced hams and cheeses looked like they had been from the day before and the sliced fruit looked like it was at least 3 days old, brown and shrivelled on the edges. Pancakes were good, fluffy and not too thin.

This is a beautiful place that could use some higher standards and attention from the innkeeper.

Not to the standard of many other fine inns.

Thank you for taking time to review our Inn.

As always we cut fresh fruit daily as needed. Today was pineapple, strawberries , blueberries ,bananas and oranges. The cheese is cut as we need it and never before as is the cold cuts we lay out for our guests, along with daily baked croissants
We are glad you enjoyed the pancakes as we make them for our guests from scratch .

This is an historic Inn so the rooms have antiques, beautiful pictures, lovely co-coordinating curtains and spreads as well as all modern conveniences for social networking. It has an historic look to it not modern hotel. A home away from home.
The bath amenities are french milled soap, shampoo/conditioner and shower cap. Not having expensive amenities such as Aveda or boutique soaps enables us to keep our costs down, so the Inn is affordable for everyone. I, the Inn Keeper am here 24/7 so attention to detail comes naturally. I think our many repeat guests would agree our service is above average.
Hopefully you will stay with us again and try a deluxe room rather than the smaller economical room you chose.
All the best in your travels

“Wonderful place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 November 2011

I spent two weeks at Hochelaga Inn, while working at Queen's University. I quite enjoyed being there. Everyone was extremely nice and it felt like being at home. My room was in the coach house and was spacious. The room walls are thin and you can hear slight noise from other rooms, but not enough to be a huge problem. Breakfast was good and had a lot of variety. Overall, I very much enjoyed my stay and would recommend the inn for anyone.

“Lovely getaway in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

My husband and I enjoyed a terrific weekend getaway at this lovely well appointed Kingston Inn with its intriguing nooks and crannies, bright carpeted stairwells, seasonal colourful decor and period furniture. Our room was large, quiet, beautifully furnished, with a sofa for relaxing and a table for the computer. The bed was luxuriously comfortable.
A substantial breakfast (loved that fritatta!) was served by an inviting fireplace, on the porch with views of the garden or in the living room!!
In the evening, we relaxed by the fire on the large leather sofa in the cheerful high-ceilinged living room of another era, feeling completely at home. Our host and hostess made sure of our comfort so that our stay was indeed the getaway we had hoped for!!
We have been to many B and B's but what we especially loved here was the experience of solid comfort in a relaxed, spacious environment so that we really felt at our ease. A 5 minute walk to the water and 10 minute walk to downtown were added delights.
We just loved it!!

“Felt like home”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 October 2011

Stayed at this beautiful old Inn in September. Reminded me of so many of the places I stayed in while travelling in Europe years ago...it feels casual and homey but still sophisticated. Loved the variety of foods at the breakfast buffet, especially the homeade berry frittata. The great thing about Hochelaga is the fact that it is walking distance to the downtown restaurants and stores - allows for having wine with dinner! Cookies, tea & coffee are available continually! I am booked to stay there again Thanksgiving weekend, A great spot.
