We stayed here for several nights when my son was admitted to McMaster hospital up the street. Be warned, this hotel is not really within walking distance to the hospital. (unless you are a hiker. I am not) Parking is free at the hotel but killer expensive at the hospital (yikes) The one older man that worked the front desk was slightly snobby and stand-offish (Richard maybe?) but other than him, the staff were quite friendly. There are free newspapers at the front desk and vending machines on the first floor. The 2nd night we found a stick on fingernail in our bed that wasn't there the night before! EEEEK! We figure the maid lost it while making the bed. Oh and room service was not avail late night or on the weekends which kinda sucked. The hotel was older, slightly outdated but clean and a decent place to rest my head which was exactly what we needed.

Very nice room. Friendly staff. And fairly reasonable price. Even if it is on Main St. it's not the best location if you don't have a car. Still within walking distance of downtown. Room was clean except for coffee maker. Pool & restaurant seemed nice, but did not have a chance to test them. Overall I was pleasantly surprised.

The room was a bit out of date as was the rest of it but the entrance and dining room was nice and the continental breakfast adequate for the money.Evening meal was good.Have booked another three nights .Just hope the next room is not overlooking the freeway this time.

Overall, I was pleased with the hotel. Stayed 5 days with my 12-year-old son in order to watch my daughter play in a soccer tournament. The room was clean, bed comfortable, TV worked. We stayed during the hottest week possibly ever, which might explain why there was a musty smell in the stairwell. We ate at the hotel's restaurant only for breakfast, which was reasonably priced. All the staff was friendly, though not very knowledgeable about their own city, so not very helpful for typical touristy info. The pool was enjoyable - large enough to do laps, clean, and shallow enough for kids to use without fear. There were workmen there everyday doing work on the roof (?) - they woke me one morning at 7h30 drilling into the exterior wall right outside my second-floor window. I called down to the front desk and the lady said the workers were not supposed to start until 9h00 and there was nothing she could do since the workers were a contracted private firm. She did offer to move me to the other side of the building and added that there would not be any workers the next day as it was a Saturday. The "gym" is just a small windowless room in the basement with 4 pieces of equipment - enough to work-up a sweat and do the job. They need to rejig the electrical connections as the equipment was all attached to one power bar that kept jumping the breaker circuit.
