Driving up to the front of the hotel, I noticed that one of the concrete columns was crumbling and you could see the rebar inside. This really set the tone for our stay!
The front desk area seemed decent enough, although with one person working and four people checking in, it was a bit chaotic. Despite having booked a room with a queen bed, we were told they only had rooms with two twin beds. Luckily, someone else checking-in had gotten a queen bed and wasn't too thrilled about sharing it with his male friend, so we were able to swap!
The walk to the room made my heart sink. The corridors *smelled*. My only guess is they've had some issues with damp as it smelled musty and could have done with a general overhaul.
The room itself was better. It did seem relatively clean, but the poorly mounted window air conditioner made a racket -- and we needed it on as it was too hot otherwise.
If you really just want a bed, then maybe this is an okay place to spend a night. However, we've been spending a lot of weekend's in Hamilton and have found vastly better places to stay for similar prices.
