Stayed here for 1 night - New Year's Eve - 5th floor. We basically just needed a place to sleep as we were attending a family NYE party. We will never stay here again. The beds were terrible - so hard felt like a slab of concrete. No blankets on bed - sheet and bedspread only. Woke up in the middle of night cold and had to turn the heat way up. The bathroom is so tiny you barely have room to move and no bathroom counter space. We could not find an ice machine that worked on any of the floors, and in fact some floors had NO ice machine at all even though there was an "Ice Machine" sign posted. We did not use the pool area so cannot comment on that. Elevators are extremely slow and smelled like dogs. The hotel itself was fairly clean, but the amenities in this hotel definitely make this a spot we will not return to.

Hotel puts guests on floor(s) that are under renovation. Partially drywalled hallways and considerable drywall dust in hallways and even rooms is evident. We checked in at 11:30 p.m. and didn't get settled in until 12:30 a.m. after plumbing problems necessitated a room change. Staff was apologetic and offered free breakfast but we would suggest avoiding this location until the renos are completed. At the breakfast buffet, we noticed considerable drywall dust blowing around thru the dining area air. To be fair, rooms are being upgraded and we noticed new carpet and bedding in the rooms.

We stayed at this Holiday Inn location for two nights in November for a hockey tournament. We were on the 3rd floor with our balcony over looking the pool (odd set-up). Here's the lowdown:

Pros:
- good location, close to only decent mall in Guelph
- looked to have a decent bar
- strict about their no noise policy after 10pm, though still heard adult voices
- pool was not over cholrinated
- had lifeguard on duty (maybe due to # of teams at hotel for hockey tournament)
- relatively clean

Cons:
- no free breakfast
- no thermostat in room thus temperature fluctuated
- very hot in balcony area as AC unit blew exhaust fan here
- very slow elevators
- both phones in our room did not work
- waited too long (15 minutes) for Housekeeping to bring extra towels
- would have preferrd 2 Queens as opposed to 2 Doubles

Overall, an average stay. Checkout the Delta or the Holiday Inn Espress as other options in Guelph.

Decent hotel for a short stay. Not perfect but it isn't nearly as bad as all of the traveller photos make it look. I actually really enjoyed my stay and would stay there on another trip to Guelph in the future. The pool is a good size and the breakfast buffet is good. The service was friendly and it was nice that they provided us with dog bones, since we took our dog along on the trip.
