“Like a dream”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 June 2010

During a roundtrip in Italy we spent 2 nights in this paradise! We did not know what to expect and it is hard to describe what we felt when entering this place high up the hill in the sun, with a spectacular view over the mountains and Spoleto. After a very warm welcome by the lovely host Valeria and her staff, we felt instantly at home and never wanted to leave the place anymore.
First the upgrade to the suite Il Cardinale with antique furniture and on the other hand a design bathroom and all the comfort you need. This old convent with chapel was a museum allover. Beautiful! And everywhere the lovely views from sunset till dawn. The owner Valeria and the very professional staff did us feel relaxed and happy. They were there when you wanted them, but always discrete. We have experienced excellent service. The staff is a dedicated team and proud of their residenza. They did us feel like in heaven. On top of that the excellent food that was always served on the magnificant terrace. The lush rosegarden, attractive pool, the atmosphere. It was a fairy tale, a place we will never forget!
Thank you so much dear Valeria to make this the best experience we ever had. We wih you all good luck and happiness.

Tot ziens en hartelijke groet uit Nederland.
Arrivederci!

“Wow, what an amazing place and staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2009

For myself and my group this was the most amazing place, incredible staff and delightful experience. I took a group of photographers and models to Eremo delle Grazie. It was our base over a 4 day period. It was also our workshop location for few of those days. The hospitality was a quiet joy. They were always there when you needed something and seem to vanish when you didn't.

The morning view always setup for a perfect day. The food was incredible and diverse, wonderfully, for us anyway, Italian. It was serene, with so many things to explore. I have never stayed in place so rich in history. We never felt we were in a hotel but rather a friends home.

Valeria has a perfect host. If you are looking for a unique experience this is the place. I would and will visit there again.

“Great experience, wonderful place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2009

We are a group of photographers and we had the opportunity to spent 4 night at the Eremo. Was a great experience, room are very comfortable and nice, the view is breath-taking and food, oh my, the food was amazing. We had our breakfast every morning on the terrace with an unbelievable view on Spoleto and the valley, we also use a couple of time the pool. Again, wonderful experience.

“Wonderful- but know what you want!”

My husband and I spent three wonderful nights there in April 2008. We were the only guests - different yes, but truly a delightful experience. The staff was attentive, but not intrusive. Our room was beautiful, nicely prepared for us and always attended to. It's a "crazy" curvy drive up to the hotel but again, part of the experience. We would day trip from the hotel and return early evening for some of the most romatic dinners I have shared with my husband of almost 25 years. The restaurant wasn't open yet so we would bring up wine, antipasto and paninis from the towns below and have dinner on the patio or in the dining room. Where was the staff? Every where you wanted them to be and gone when you didn't. This is an exceptional place to stay. (One of my favorite places in my ten trips to Europe.) But again, know what you want. This is a home steeped in history and family love - and off the beaten path. We had the joy of meeting the owner's daughter before we left and learned more about the history of their home which later became the hotel. PS: don't bring young kids up here - what were you thinking??? This is a place for couples!

“Spectacular and unique”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 July 2007

Indeed, the Eremo doesn't have air conditioning. Or TVs and mini-bars – that's the whole point. This medieval hermitage is now a cross between a private museum, family home and very upmarket b&b. If you value history and the arts, you'll think this is heaven. And the view from the terrace must be one of the best in Umbria, if not Italy. Try one of the home-prepared dinners for some for the most delicious delicacies you will ever taste and simply relish the peace and quiet – this is a truly restful place (yet all the greats are within a short drive: Assisi, Perugia, Orvieto, Todi). There's only one down side - the drive up the holy mountainside is fairly perilous and only for competent and confident drivers. But it's worth it...

  • Liked — The access to wonderful antiques in the house - like living in a museum.
  • Disliked — The drive up!
