We are a group of photographers and we had the opportunity to spent 4 night at the Eremo. Was a great experience, room are very comfortable and nice, the view is breath-taking and food, oh my, the food was amazing. We had our breakfast every morning on the terrace with an unbelievable view on Spoleto and the valley, we also use a couple of time the pool. Again, wonderful experience.

My husband and I spent three wonderful nights there in April 2008. We were the only guests - different yes, but truly a delightful experience. The staff was attentive, but not intrusive. Our room was beautiful, nicely prepared for us and always attended to. It's a "crazy" curvy drive up to the hotel but again, part of the experience. We would day trip from the hotel and return early evening for some of the most romatic dinners I have shared with my husband of almost 25 years. The restaurant wasn't open yet so we would bring up wine, antipasto and paninis from the towns below and have dinner on the patio or in the dining room. Where was the staff? Every where you wanted them to be and gone when you didn't. This is an exceptional place to stay. (One of my favorite places in my ten trips to Europe.) But again, know what you want. This is a home steeped in history and family love - and off the beaten path. We had the joy of meeting the owner's daughter before we left and learned more about the history of their home which later became the hotel. PS: don't bring young kids up here - what were you thinking??? This is a place for couples!

Indeed, the Eremo doesn't have air conditioning. Or TVs and mini-bars – that's the whole point. This medieval hermitage is now a cross between a private museum, family home and very upmarket b&b. If you value history and the arts, you'll think this is heaven. And the view from the terrace must be one of the best in Umbria, if not Italy. Try one of the home-prepared dinners for some for the most delicious delicacies you will ever taste and simply relish the peace and quiet – this is a truly restful place (yet all the greats are within a short drive: Assisi, Perugia, Orvieto, Todi). There's only one down side - the drive up the holy mountainside is fairly perilous and only for competent and confident drivers. But it's worth it...

So good looking on their website, but what a joke. Old like a museum only with no guests, small " cells " under a hot roof with a fireplace with the previous guests burned wood, which means the rooms smelled like there has been a fire. An evening dinner where my son at the age of 5 ordered at pasta with just oliveoil at the price of 30 Euro. Terrible place. DO NOT GO THERE ! Breakfast was a cheap yoghurt on a plate wth nothing to put in and a dry cake. 2nd day there was a box of cornflakes at the table, only there was just one portion left in the box. What a joke this place is ! STAY AWAY MY FRIENDS and go to Locanda del Gallo in Umbria near Perugia..now thats another story. Theres a hotel with charme and beauty.
