We planned a last minute ski vacation to Barrie and Travelodge was the only hotel with rooms available. Aside from the fact the hotel is pet friendly (we have a small dog), there was nothing appealing about this hotel! When I walked into the lobby, all I could smell was smoke. On the way down the hall to our NON-SMOKING room, all we could smell was smoke. My children even commented on how terrible it smelled. Our room didn't smell too strong of smoke, but definitely it had infiltrated the room. The room was old, in rough condition...rusty plumbing, marks on the walls, giant chips out of the dresser, etc. the bathroom smelled like mildew and the towels smelled like....you guessed it, SMOKE!! Yes, there's a pool and hot tub (disgusting, looking water in the hottub), however, there are no towels at the pool! Our room was provided with two towels, two hand towels and two face cloths (4 people on the reservation??). Make some effort and towel the room for the number of guests in the reservation please.
I didn't even consider eating here (afraid the food would taste of smoke). At least it's close to the highway and Snow Valley, but I would not stay here again and would not recommend this hotel unless you are trapped in Barrie due to a snowstorm and the alternative is sleeping in your car.

We stopped here last weekend when we were in town for our daughters game. Very convenient location right off the highway. All the amenities that you could need. Added bonus hot tub and pool. Friendly staff to boot so I highly recommend and we will definitely be back next time we head up that way!

I joined the Travelodge "Prefered Guest" club by internet and was told I would get 25% off my room and a $10 gas card. The lady at the desk had no idea what I was talking about, even when I quoted the deal code. She gave me $2 off breakfast and told me the billing is not untill the next day. (Maybe the discount would be added in then?) In a quick rundown: The hotel smelled of smoke, the bathtub was cracked (but clean), the cable service was very good, the Wi-Fi was good, the snacks were super-expensive ($11.01 for a pop, bag of chips and 5 small "Hot Rods" in a package!), the clerks were friendly and the price was 'way too high.
This hotel chain seems a little goofy. Five e-mails in 10 days but the actual hotel did not know what I was talking about? Advertised to me a $56 price (plus gas card) but actual, with taxes was $101? I think Management has a little communication/training problem. Thanks but no thanks.
