“Schaferhoh B&B was wonderful”

I had a wonderful stay at the Schaferhof Bed and Breakfast. The accommodations were very clean and comfortable, the surroundings are beautiful and rural (tucked in the midst of sprawling vineyards) and the hospitality was warm and welcoming.

After calling to make a reservation by phone, I realized that when I tried to program my Garmin GPS unit to find the address, it could not be found. Be sure to ask for directions when you make your reservation.

The proprietors, Lore and Dieter Schafer, were very gracious and were happy to hang out and talk about the area with me. In the morning, the breakfast was delicious and bountiful. I enjoyed a long, enjoyable breakfast along with the two couples who had also spent the night there. Lore is a great cook!

The only negatives I can think of were only minor. During the time of year I was there (late summer), there was a sound like that of hunters firing their guns in the distance. Lore informed me that these were actually automatic “noise makers” that the local vineyards use to keep birds from eating the grapes. However, the sound was so minor that it quickly faded into the background and the noise makers shut off as soon as the sun was down anyway.

Also, there is a large, friendly dog and a couple of cats that live outdoors on the property, but these should not be a problem for anyone unless they are deathly afraid of pets.

If you like B&B’s, I’d heartily recommend this one.

“A Wonderful Stay”

This quaint B&B is tucked in the heart of Vineland, Ontario. The rooms were neat and comfortable, the hosts were gracious and welcoming, and the breakfast was delicious. The all-around atmosphere was beautiful and relaxing- lush gardens, trees, and a vineyard across the road. And you can't beat the price! Forget the hotel chains - a dingy hotel down the road was more than twice the price of this charming B&B. If you plan to stay in this area, don't stay anywhere else than Schaeferhof B&B!

“Wonderful food and hosts.”

Super nice B&B and great hosts. I was there in the fall when all the leaves were turning in different shades of yellow, orange and red. Beautiful, beautiful.

Perfect B&B when visiting the Niagara Falls and all the fantastic wineries as you are away from all the tourist traps and only 20 minutes away.

Lore is a marvelous cook. She served the best breakfasts I have ever eaten.

“Warm country B&B near Niagara Falls”

We got a warm welcome from Lore and Dieter at Schaferhof in the Niagara region. This place is a little bit country and a lot about the food and drink offered. What gracious hosts the Schafers are! Dieter does barbecues in the outside pit which creates a country party feeling. Lore is known for her cuisine. I?d rather stay here than in the hotel/motel district of Niagara Falls. You really should take some wine and swap stories with the Schafers. This place produces great trip memories. Buck the pet pooch keeps a friendly eye on the management.

“The best of country and city”

We found Schaferhof by recommendation, and what a great one it was. Not exactly in Niagara Falls (thankfully!), it's located instead about 20 minutes away in the beautiful wine country of Niagara (I think the exact town is Fenwick?). Lore and Dieter Schafer are gracious hosts, offering a warm family-style welcome and breakfast service, including an invitation to join them and other guests each night around the firepit for refreshements and conversation. They have comfortable rooms in their home or - and this was our favourite - a pair of adjoining suites just steps away. To be so close to the touristic hubbub of The Falls (and close to Toronto, too), yet in the serenity of the country (when was the last time you chased fireflies?) was just a perfect respite.
