I was recently at the Marriott Harbourfront Hotel, and I have to say I was blown away by the service. I had several important customers with me for a 3-day conference, and everything was excellent. The food was absolutely incredible, the staff was responsive and on-hand at all times. The event coordinator was incredibly organized, and the front desk was very pleasant and accommodating. My hotel room looked out over the harbour and it was just gorgeous to wake up to that sunrise over the harbour each morning. There are several great restaurants and shopping to do within walking distance as well- make sure you go to Salty's for dinner and get a table looking out over the harbour, gorgeous! I highly encourage if you are travelling whether for business or pleasure, you will not be disappointed with this hotel.

This is fine hotel with a stunning location - many of the rooms have great views of the amazing Halifax harbour (one of the most beautiful harbours in the world). Also, if you have kids that like hanging at the pool - you can get a room with a sliding door that goes directly onto the pool deck (inside pool). Well, connected by street or by pedway to other downtown venues. Beautiful building inside, rooms are fine and many dining options within or around the hotel. We weren't very impressed with the food in the Fife and Drum (restaurant/bar inside hotel). However, the main restuarant - 44 North gorgeous and good food (pretty pricey however...).

Mariott Harbourfront Hotel is a first class property located at probably the most convenient location for any hotel property in the HRM area - right on the boardwalk and overlooking beautiful Halifax Harbour. All hotel rooms are large, very comfortable, practical and yet homey. All the standard creature comforts are here whether you're staying on business or pleasure. The hotel staff is right on the ball whether one has a question, a problem or needs directions.

Hotel restaurants are great - Fife & Drum is a fairly busy pub and a fun visit whether for fun or a meal. 44 North Restaurant offers a great view of the harbour and very tasty food and super service to go with it. 63 West Lounge is right beside the main restaurant and usually is a great place to quietly unwind from a busy day and enjoy good conversation.

All in all - you can't go wrong with this hotel - business or pleasure trip - this is the place to stay in Halifax.

Location:
The hotel is right on the waterfront, the Hotel restaurant (44 N) has the best view of the Harbour. Some rooms also have this view, however if you choose the concierge level on the 6th floor, none of the rooms will have the harbour view.

Hotel:
It is a large hotel with 6 floors and many rooms, the style is probably not the most modern and the colours are like red/yellow -ish. But with this said everything works, and the hotel staff are very attentive and very service minded. There is a Starbucks in the lobby, and Hertz is right next door.

The Room:
Nice size (King on Concierge Level) with 42" flat screen with both ordinary and HD channels. Good firm bed and an extra soft chair and desk with ample electrical points.
Bathroom has a lowered bathtub and could use an extra lamp but ample hot water and bath amenities. I was there during the week, but in the weekend I can imagine that the noise from doors and talking in the hallway will be audible. The cleaning lady uses some sort of room perfume, so be prepared to have the window open when you get back in the evening.

Services:
Gym is on the 2nd floor open 24h along with a pool. The Gym is a decent size with 5 treadmills and other equipment.
Parking is in the basement at 22 CAD/24hours, watch the max height is 6 feet!
Local restaurant is 44N, and serves very nice food. View is excellent over the harbour.


Overall, not the cheapest hotel in Halifax, but you get what you pay for, and this Hotel is top notch.
