“Loved Nature's Cottage B&B in Mahone Bay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 August 2005

Nature's Cottage B&B is run by a wonderful proprieter named Marlene. Marlene's house is absolutley lovely! There are 3 guest rooms upstairs with private baths. The only slight drawback would be that none of the bathrooms are ensuite, (they are just outside the respective bedrooms door) however Marlene supplies bath robes in the event you require one, which are also handy for use to and from the "hot tub" in the garden. The property also has a self contained one bedroom suite separate from the main house. At the waterfront there is a private dock with Cape Cod Chairs where we enjoyed an evening drink as the sun set. Marlene's reccommendations for our touring days were so helpful! She suggested beaches, sea caves and picnic lunch places that were all great. Her local knowledge of the town and surrounding area helped us optimize our time in southern Nova Scotia. Marlene's attention to all details from decor to food to the garden is fantastic. We visited in July"05 and look forward to returning.

“Absolutely Wonderful”

Six of us stayed at Nature's Cottage in July, 2005. The accomodations were excellent, the view of Mahone Bay, spectacular and the food exceptional. Marlene welcomed us into her B&B and made us feel completely at ease in her home. We started each day with a wonderful breakfast and some ideas from Marlene of where to go, spots for lunch and places for dinner. In the late afternoon, we would sit on the dock and watch the birds and boats pass by and end the day in the hot tub looking at the stars. Definitely a highlight of our trip.

“Beautiful if you like Silk Teabags!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 June 2005

We stayed three days here and found the location to be idyllic. Directly on the waterfront our suite had a beautiful view over the water. It was about a five minute walk along the water to the main part of town. Mahone Bay is a quaint unspoilt small town with many interesting small shops and restaurants. The B&B has its own private mooring and it is possible to sit on the jetty and see the town.

The Safari Suite is beautifully presented. As the name suggests it has an African theme which isn't too contrived. The great bonus was the sitting area off the bedroom which had a great selection of books, magazines, dvds and board games. There was also a large walk in closet with towelling robes. Nice touches were the complimentary candy and mineral water cooler. The only drawback was that the showerroom wasn't ensuite. It was a private bathroom with a private key and located along the corridor.

Breakfasts were fairly good but a bit extraordinary. Upon arrival in the dining room each place setting had the first course waiting for the guest... a huge slab of cheesecake! The owner prepared a further hot course.

The conversation at breakfast with other guests was pleasant as we reflected on the pleasant things to find in Mahone Bay. Once the hot course was served the conversation changed as the owner spent the next 40 minutes talking about the teabags which were made of silk and each was individually boxed! If you are into tea you will love it! Otherwise....

We did find breakfast a bit of a hurdle so made our excuses to avoid sitting at the table the next morning and asked for a breakfast-to-go. The owner was good enough to do this. She was also very helpful by providing internet access from her office.

Conclusion. It was beautiful and the owner was welcoming. The rooms were comfortable and well furnished. But as for breakfast!
