My partner and I recently relocated to Yellowknife and had an extended stayed at the Coast Fraser Tower while we arranged for longer term accommodation. Although the hotel is undergoing extensive renovations, our stay was enjoyable thanks to clean, spacious, fully equipped suites and staff who were capable and welcoming. The fact that the hotel was centrally located, had laundry facilities and was pet friendly was an added bonus. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Yellowknife.

I have stayed at the Coast Fraser Tower two times now and the one thing that has impressed me the most besides the excellent accommodation is the overall "friendliness" displayed by the staff toward dog owners and their pets. I would rather pay the little extra it costs for a room because of this.
On my last visit, I had an appointment in downtown Yellowknife early in the day and had nowhere to keep my dog, travel crate and luggage until my flight out. The staff were very accommodating and allowed me to stay a little later than the normal 11:00 am check-out. I am sure they do not do this as the norm .. they went out of their way to help me.
I will definitely stay there again and would recommend this hotel to others looking for a "genuine" pet friendly hotel.

My wife and I spent a night at the Coast Fraser Tower in Yellowknife and it was a great experience.
We had a one bedroom suite, which is considered a small room in this hotel (they also have 2 and three bedroom suites).
I wouldn't even call it a hotel room, it was more like renting a furnished apartment that someone comes in and cleans every day! There was a large living room with balcony; full kitchen with stove, full size fridge, double sink, etc; and a large bedroom.
The room was very clean, right down to the tv remote control, which is a solid remote that can be sanitized and then placed in a sanitary holder.
Quality of sleep was great; comfortable beds and no noise from the hall or other floors.
There is a well equipped fitness room on the main floor and the staff is very friendly.
The hotel is a little out of the way but still only a 5 min walk from downtown.
The view, cleanliness, room size and ammenities, and staff attentivness more than makes up for the short walk.

There was a fire in April 2010 and the hotel is under renovations, making sure all guests are accomadated as needed. There is a large number of long term residents who stay there, knowing every effort is being done to meet their needs. For temporary travellers, you encounter the most friendly staff and management as soon as you walk in the door, and the level of service is un-paralleled any where else in yellowknife. I make every effort to stay there in lieu of the other hotels,and introduce my staff and Executives to there as well and have always received back favorable comments on the hospitality, coomfort and diligence of all the staff. An in all one exceelllent place to stay away from home.
