“Got me hooked on BnB's”

This was my first time at a BnB, as it was the only room we could get during the George St Festival. What a great experience! We had a huge room, located within walking distance to everything we wanted to see. Breakfast was spent with great people and amazing view, all at a price we would have paid at a regular hotel without the home cooked breakfast. Thank you to The Roses, you got me hooked on BnB's now.

“Wonderful Place- Great value”

My wife and i recently spent three days at The Roses and had a great time. We like to walk and were advised not to rent a car for the first day of our stay which saved us $80. The B&B has a great location and is close to everything that we wanted to see on foot. We stayed on the top floor of the yellow building which has has great view, spacious room , as well as use of a kitchen. We thought is was a bargain for $129.

Karen , the cook, was delightful, helpful and her french toast is awsome. I would certainlt recommed it

“Wonderful Experience”

We travelled to St. John's for a family wedding and my extended family took up a good portion of the rooms at 'The Roses'. The staff was very accommodating when we arrived early - they allowed us to stow our luggage while we went for lunch. The location is very central and convenient for exploring on foot.
The rooms were very nice, each one with its own unique character. Each room has its own bath with the exception of the two rooms my sister and I had reserved. We knew this when we reserved these rooms as we wanted to be close together. Our rooms were located by the main entrance - it may be off putting to some that we had to walk down a hall to our bathroom. It was fine for us because practically our whole family was staying at 'The Roses'.
A delicious breakfast was served every morning - pancakes, French toast, eggs, etc and it was a great way to start the day by meeting up with everyone we were with. The only thing I would caution older travelers on is the amount of stairs - the kitchen is at the top of the house with three flights of stairs. It was fine for us, but more difficult for our older relatives.
All in all it was a wonderful stay and if I am back in St. John's I will definitely stay at 'The Roses'!

“Loved it...and sad to leave”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 August 2010

This B&B was incredibly awesome! You take off your shoes when you get in (hardwood floor, believe me you want people to take their shoes off). We had the suite on the very bottom floor and it was fantastic. We had our own livingroom, kitchen table, and a bedroom with two queen beds. Our bathroom was a good size with a tub and it was like having our own apartment while we were traveling. The breakfast was a bit screwed up, the "menus" in the room was wrong and the kitchen never served what it said it was going to. In the kitchen, the first morning (Friday) there was a woman who made us pancakes (YUM). Sat and Sun morning was continental and there was no one there. We had to make our own coffee and do everything. Some people seemed irritated by this but it was fine with us. The kitchen had a great view of the harbour. The place is perfectly located and its an easy walk to downtown. All in all, an AWESOME place!

“Hopefully, we'll be back soon :)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2009

This B&B exceeded our expectations the ladies really made the place. The breakfasts were out of this world. They left us wishing we could cook half as good. the location was close enought to the hustle and bustle of Water/Duckworth/George Streets without being to close to the craziness. Very close to Signal Hill/ Trails, parks, The Rooms and the local supermarket. I will definitely being staying here again if I return to St. John's.
