“Visit Humber Valley Saved our Christmas”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2010

We are new to Western Newfoundland, and consistently disappointed with the service at many businesses here. So for Christmas, we wanted to experience something special without leaving the island. We chose a stay at the Humber Valley Resort. There seem to be many rental companies out there for the Humber Valley, but we were impressed with Visit Humber Valley's website, which made booking less confusing. Their website is professional and easy to navigate. Our questions were answered promptly and professionally.

Upon arrival to the resort, our check-in was friendly, fast, and efficient. We were provided with an information package from Visit Humber Valley that included everything we needed. After we reached our Chalet, 3 Riverside Drive, we were blown away by their service -- we were welcomed with chocolate truffles and a Christmas greeting card from the Visit Humber Valley team. Soon after check-in one of the owners of Visit Humber Valley even dropped by to see if we had any questions about anything in the chalet, A really nice touch. The staff has the charm and friendliness that Newfoundland is known for, but the professionalism and courtesy that seems to be lacking elsewhere in Western Newfoundland hotels.

The chalet itself was clean, bright, and comfortable. I appreciate the small details like hairdryers in the bathroom, fluffy towels, comfortable mattresses and pillows. I also appreciate the well-stocked kitchen which included state-of-the-art pots and pans, wine glasses, silverware, dinner service for 8, and high quality knives. I would imagine the more serious cooks might want to bring some of their own tried-and-true utensils, but really all one needs to bring is food and wine! Things like salt and pepper and sugar were also available. The dining room was spacious and could easily seat 8 with a lovely deck overlooking the woods that would be perfect for dining on in summer.

The resort itself is beautiful and private. We went for long walks throughout the resort and enjoyed stunning views of the Humber Valley. It reminded us of some of the vistas we've seen in the Rocky Mountains and in the highlands of Scotland. I especially enjoyed running throughout the resort early Christmas morning.

The intimate setting, the privacy and quiet, was second to none. We enjoyed the fireplace and the cathedral ceiling in the sunken living room. It felt as comfortable as home, while still feeling like a relaxing, invigorating get-away.

I really feel that Visit Humber Valley was the best choice for our Christmas vacation, we really believe their service saved our Christmas from being simply mediocre. We're already planning our next visit.

Just stayed for 3 nights while on vacation from Alberta. Very nice places, clean and spacious. There is a small playground for kids, golf is great and hot tub made the stay.

“Best holiday ever with friends”

This is a fantastic place for a holiday with friends. The accomodation in the Chalets in Humber Valley Resort is suberb.Full size pool table for relaxing over game and hot tub on large deck to start off evening entertainment. The chalets have extremely well equipped kitchens and the food especially local meat and fish is a very high standard so it led to very good food every evening. The steaks were cooked on bar b que outside in snow and we even had lobster one evening. There is plenty to do. We skied at Marble Mountain 3 days at very affordable rates and also spent a day Skidooing and another day Dog sledding. The local people are very friendly and they all have time for a chat. This was without doubt the most fun holiday we have ever had as a group of three couples.

“Amazing Place buy beware of who you book with!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2009

We stayed at Humber Valley Resort this August for 4 glorious days and had an amazing vacation. So relaxing and beautiful that we did not want it to end. We booked with a company called Visit Humber Valley that we found on the Newfoundland tourism website and the service was outstanding. They gave us clear directions and are located on site and we had no problems. Our friends booked with another company and had a less than enjoyable experience. No clear directions of where to go to check in and when they finally located someone to help them it took over half an hour of waiting to even get checked into their chalet. Comparing our two experience was night and day. We had wireless internet, sattelite TV, amenties in the bathrooms and kitchen as a standard. Our friends had none of these things and didn't even have any toilet paper or garbage bags! Shocking to think we paid the same price. Apparently a few rental companies have cropped up since the resort went bankrupt last year and not all are liscened or provide the same level of service. I am aware that Visit Humber Valley is licensed with the Province of NL and have a 4 and 1/2 star Canada Select rating. I would recommend booking with them. We were also able to choose our chalet in advance with their online gallery showing the chalet interior pictures.

I would highly recommend visiting this hidden gem of Canada. Our best day was Zip lining at Marble Zip Tours followed by a game of Golf on the River Course. Very close runner up was a nature hike in Gros Morne National Park with a picnic perched above what looked like to me to be Middle Earth!

Already booked to come back this winter for a Ski Holiday!

I have been to Humber Valley many times, first as a visitor and now as an owner whose chalet is available for rent from an agent other than Visit Humber Valley. I find your “review” of Humber Valley more a solicitation or promotion of Visit Humber Valley than an objective review of the facility, its amenities and attractions. Please do not misunderstand the intent of my comment; Visit Humber Valley does a fine job as does my agent, “The Lodges at Humber Valley Resort.” Both offer 4 and ½ star rated accommodations and both do a great job for their clients. Humber Valley Resort is a magical place and your comments do not do it justice, but rather create concern for others who are considering a visit. My recommendation for those considering a Western Newfoundland visit is to look at Humber Valley Resort and contact those accredited agents listed with the Provence of Newfoundland. Which licensed agent you choose should not be the issue, it’s the visit to Humber Valley Resort, its many 4 and 1/2 star accommodations, ideal setting in Western Newfoundland and beauty and tranquility that counts.

“Peaceful..Beautiful..Perfect!”

We stayed in a 3 bedroom Chalet that was absolutely beautiful. The grounds, staff and facilities go beyond your expectations. The home and ourselves felt wrapped in a cozy blanket of snow and silence. We went for an exciting ski weekend, which we got, but we received peace and quiet and rejuvenation at the end of each day at this resort. Security made us feel so protected and everyone was just a phone call away, if we needed anything. I loved the ambiance of the fireplace. I want to return again and again in season after season. This is Paradise!
