“Ok place for overnight”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2010

We booked this hotel as a stop over from US on our way to Halifax. The place looked old but it is similar to more Comfort Inn I have stayed. The breakfast area is very small and the front desk was helpful. The rooms was kind of old and needs a makeover. But for us - it was ok since we were there for 1 night. The area is outside of town but the shopping plaza was pretty close. About 5 minutes to Downtown St. John. It was pretty close to the ferry terminal that took us to Digby.

If you plan to stay more than 1 night, I would go for better hotels like the Hilton or Delta. We were ok since we stay for 1 night.

“Never checked in!”

The manager on 6/23/10 at 3pm was more interested in smoking just outside the main entrance than in checking us in.We left . We did stay in 2 Comfort Inns in Nova Scotia. They were great with attentive, friendly staff. The Comfort Inn in Truro was exceptional and the night desk clerk, Justin was most helpful and accomodating. The 2 Comfort Inn we did stay in during our vacation were without exception clean and inviting. We were most disappointed to end our trip on such a sour note. Too bad! A very attractive young woman - someone should advise her on customer relations (and lung cancer).

The young woman at the desk on 6/23/10 at 3pm was more interested in smoking just outside the main entrance than in checking us in - we left! We had stayed in Comfort Inn in Truro and one other site in Nova scotia and found the staff delightful. St. John dropped the ball with this one.

“Older, Shabby Property Located on the Outskirts of Town”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2009

The building is older and starting to get a bit shabby. We had booked online through a major 3rd party travel site and in doing so had inadvertently been assigned a smoking room. The hotel said they were unable to provide another room, so we endured the strong stink. I can't believe they still have smoking rooms - most other places have phased them out a long time ago.

The hotel is located on the outskirts of town in a light industrial area.

The nightly rate includes breakfast however the breakfast room is cramped, dim, and old. Not a pleasing experience. Choices were breads/muffins/cereal, juice, coffee, and a plate of hard boiled eggs with a cheesy hand written note taped to the wall with instructions on how to re-heat the eggs in the microwave. All in all the atmosphere was shabby and depressing.

I realize this is considered a 1 star property with basic accomodations, but they could still provide a better experience by sprucing the place up a little.

“terrible value”

upon seeing the room I had reserved, I quickly returned to the front desk to cancel my reservation. The ungrateful receptionist, who could have worked for WWW informed me that there were no better in "town." I used my GPS and found the downtown Hilton, for $20 cheaper and stars apart from this 1/2 star mess. The building and grounds were appalling as well. STAY AWAY!

“Comfortable with helpful staff.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 October 2008

My wife and I had to visit this city on business. We just wanted a clean and comfortable place to stay that was handy to the regional hospital and as we had stayed at Comfort Inns before this is where we chose. It was clean and comfortable although a little tired which was however reflected in the price. The staff were the very best; friendly and helpful and we certainly would stay there again.

  • Liked — Friendly and helpful staff, clean accommodation.
  • Disliked — TV/radio was old and difficult to operate. Hotel needs a renovation.
