“Terrible Front Desk Service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2011

My wife and I were in Saint John for one night and as we are regular Choice Hotel members - about 45 days a year, we stayed at this facility. When we checked in Debbie was SUPERB in all she did for us. There was a young woman on the computer beside the check checking her mail and accounts. We did not know at the time it was the desk clerk coming in to replace Debbie. Even though there were three people waiting to be checked in she chose not to help Debbie. When we got to the room we noticed that we had a problem with the hard wired (CAT7) cable.
When I went to the desk, Debbie had left and the new clerk told me she was sorry but she could not help me. I mentioned to her people smoking in the halls. "I am sorry but I cannot do anything about that" was her reply. When we returned to the room we also noticed that the lights in the bathroom were burnt out/not working. I returned to the desk and got the same answer. I got furious. She left to call the two managers who told her to call maintenance. NOTHING WAS DONE. The desk clerk was more interested in being on her computer and would tell people "just a moment" as she finished her dealings. She was not using the Motel's computer - she was on her own laptop. If you are a traveler who does not mind cigarette smoky halls (seeping in to the room) then you might find this hotel satisfactory. But with customer care like this Choice Hotels will need to reevaluate.
I do travel writing under a pseudo name and have never been treated so poorly by a desk clerk.

“Will stay the next time through”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 July 2011

Very nice and pet friendly. My friend and I were traveling with our little dogs and got such a warm reception. Beds were comfy and the room was clean. Stayed here overnight before taking the ferry to Nova Scoita. Will do the same next year.

“Perfect hotel, for passing through Saint John.”

Don't let the plain exterior and tiny reception area fool you. Very adequate hotel. Near the highway, so no need to go into the city. Very quiet, though located next to a truck/junk yard. Very claen, comfy...I wanted to take a pillow!! You do smell strong smoke in parts of the hallway, but not in the room at all. Very freindly.

“A typical Comfort Inn”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2010

If you've stayed at several Comfort Inn's, this is a mirror image. It's EXACTLY what you'd expect. It is however located in the least convenient area of the city. If you want to be close to the uptown or the east shopping this is not the area for you. If you are driving, you are only 5 mins from uptown.

“Ok place for overnight”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2010

We booked this hotel as a stop over from US on our way to Halifax. The place looked old but it is similar to more Comfort Inn I have stayed. The breakfast area is very small and the front desk was helpful. The rooms was kind of old and needs a makeover. But for us - it was ok since we were there for 1 night. The area is outside of town but the shopping plaza was pretty close. About 5 minutes to Downtown St. John. It was pretty close to the ferry terminal that took us to Digby.

If you plan to stay more than 1 night, I would go for better hotels like the Hilton or Delta. We were ok since we stay for 1 night.
