While traveling back to Alberta my wife and I decided to stop in Saint John to visit an old friend. We decided to stay at the fort howe. The staff we extreamly friendly from check in to check out. The guy working the front desk the next morning treaded us like old friends
and it actually made us want to stay another night because of the warm reception.
The room was great, and the hotel was only a couple of minuits from the down town area. The hotel cafe was quiet and relaxed. The server made us feel at home.

I enjoy swimming before going to work and was very pleased with the recent renovations to the pool area. Freshly painted, new flooring, large changing rooms and a great pool and hot tub.

Loved the Fort Howe for it's weirdness. The hotel has a creepy feel to it but once I got into the atmosphere I began to appeciate the 80's swinger vibe. The room was dirty (especially the bathroom) but the beds were very comfortable and everything was in good repair. The staff (especially the front desk!) were awesome and great to deal with. Breakfast seemed overpriced but when we recieved our food it was a huge portion and very good. Awesome location, especially for getting around the downtown core on foot. Good prices especially with free parking included. With a little updating and better housekeeping standards, the Fort Howe could be a real gem.

Stayed in a dog-friendly room and even the dogs wouldn't sleep on the carpet, it was that dirty. The bedding smelled sour. Brown splotches on the wall that I didn't want to think about. Some of the staff were friendly. $84 per night and not worth it. Won't stay here again.
