“great airport hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

We were pleasantly surprised when we entered the lobby-- very modern and clean the price was right as Winnipeg can be very expensive for lodging-- the rooms has a small kitchen--a couch and a great bathroom--the beds were one of the best I have slept on--- the front staff was very polite and helped us with directions--if we stay again we would request a room facing the front lobby as we are not used to noise of traffic--it is close to a lot of shopping and the stadium--would stay again

Room Tip: rooms on lobby side quieter

“One of the best Airport hotels in the City”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 December 2011

I am in frequent need of a airport hotel in Winnipeg. This hotel has become my first choice. Clean large rooms, free internet, comfortable business appointments, and a small efficiency unit including a cook-top, fridge, microwave and dishwasher.

Advice: Take a long plug in cord in the winter and the last time I was there not all of the plug-ins were installed and if your room is short of cutlery check the dishwasher - it is likely hiding in there.

“According to me, this hotel is too highly rated on the tripadvisor site”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 November 2011

I travel to Winnipeg on a semi regularl basis and usually stay at one of three hotel chains, all of which are good. They were all booked this time around and based on this site's reviews, picked Mainstay Suites.
The property is quite new but already shows signs of "aging quickly".
The good: Affordable, pretty good bed, roomy, fridge and microwave.
Not so good: Two exercise machines in small room. Apart from the fresh eggs, most food was stale for breakfast. Front desk was just OK. They seemed disinterested at times and for my two night stay asked for the previously arranged wake up calls to be turned off as I had awaken early. They were not and both times had to step out of the shower to answer the phone.
For your info: There is no pool at Mainstay but a large whirlpool/hot tub. No shuttle bus, but the hotel does reimburse you for the cab ride from the airport. Personally prefer a friendly hotel employed shuttle bus driver.
While not a bad property, definitely not top 20 in my books for Winnipeg. Affordability and large rooms are the main pluses.

“Make your stay "Sensational" at MainStay Suites”

This new hotel opened last year and is impecably clean, attractive and best of all, units are large with a four piece bath, a full kitchen complete with dishwasher, sink, stove, oven, microwave, refrigerator plus a set of dishes for two, pots, pans, coffee maker, kettle, etc. This hotel situated near the Winnipeg airport gets extra points for its ultra comfy bed that I guarantee will put any insomniac to sleep. The fluffy pillows and mattress were devine. The tv is high definition and quite large giving you fabulous views from anywhere in the room. The #1 feature for this hotel is the contentional breakfast, served in its own cafe across from the lobby on the first floor, daily from 6 am to 10 am. Canadians know a contential breakfast is usually coffee and a danish but at the MainStay Suites there is always a good variety with of cereals for picky kids, oatmeal, toast, french toast, eggs, hashbrowns, pastries, juices, and all hot beverages. The cafe doubles as a relaxing area complete with many tables and chairs or your can watch tv, read the newspaper while sipping your coffee or tea which is available 24 hours. The front desk staff are professional, punctual, very helpful and friendly. Free parking is ample. A suite costs $110.00 and a standard room $95. Taxes are extra for this four storey hotel. Book early to ensure a room because this hotel is near the airport and popular. I never heard any noise coming from the airport 24 hours a day; and if you happen to be a football fan you will love looking out the south window and see the stadium of the CFL Winnipeg Blue Bombers which is about 1000 metres from the hotel. This delightful hotel is suitable for everyone although for children there is nothing to amuse them.
