“A Good Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 December 2011

I've stayed at this place under a number of ownerships. This is one of the better ones. Be aware that it is next to the bus station, and that there are a number of vagrants. Although not as bad as 25 years ago when it was a slum area. Winnipeg has really cleaned if up, but you'll still find people sleeping (or passed out) on the floor of the parking ramp.

The place is ideally situated, kitty corner from the Bay and Portage Place, and not far from the zoo and the Forks. Winnipeg streets are poorly laid out, so get a map. You can cut off lots of time if you know which streets cut across. I say this because getting to the front door can be a challenge. You have to drive around the block because you can't turn left across colony to get.

Rooms are clean and the staff very courteous. So I'd highly recommend it, eh?

Thank you for taking the time to complete a review on your stay with us. You are correct, the area surrounding the Hotel has gone through numerous dramatic improvements in the last 2 years. The Bus Depot is no longer Downtown and the University of Winnipeg has utilized the space for a restaurant, coffee shop and various shops for their students. The University has also added several new buildings to their campus. The Parking Lot has also recently been through many enhancements. Our Hotel has also completed a multi million dollar face lift and many enhancements to improve our guest service. We are in a great Downtown location for any event being held at the MTS Center. My staff and I look forward to your next visit.

“Great location”

RIght in the heart of downtown Winnipeg, this hotel is within walking distance of the downtown mall, shopping, restaurants, and the MTS centre. It's close to the museum and government center also.
Main lobby is small but very nice, with good front desk staff. I had zero problems durning my stay in a clean, comfortable room with up to date amenities and decor.
Would definitely stay here again if I'm coming to Winnipeg.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the government center

Thank you for your kind words. We appreciate you taking the time to review the Holiday Inn & Suites Winnipeg Downtown and are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay. Our entire staff works hard at providing all our guests with a Great Stay. And I agree with you, the lights down on Portage and down Memorial Blvd., to our Manitoba Parliament Buildings are very beautiful this time of year. We do hope we will see you again, for now All the Best to You and Your Family in 2012.

“Good Price but had to pay for Parking.”

We booked though hotels.ca and got a good price so we desided to stay here with our 2 year old son. The rooms where very clean, the pool and hot tub are in the basement, the pool was on the small side but was good for my son. It was a good location as it was central downtown. We never ate at the restrant. Good stay overall!

Room Tip: Try for one in the back away from Portage ave as its pretty loud traffic

“Just what you expect from Holiday Inn, a warm welcome and a good night”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 November 2011

I stayed here two nights in early November. The hotel is easy to find but turn into the parking lot just before the hotel rather than into the hotel round about or you need to drive all the way around the block to get into the parking lot. Also drive straight to the back of the lot and park facing the West wall. You will see the Holiday Inn reserved parking spots there. Much easier to do this right the first time than to drive around the block to try it again. The rooms are exactly what you expect from Holiday Inn. Consistency is great. The service from the front desk staff is fantastic. They always greeted me with a smile and encouraged me to call down if I needed anything. There is a restaurant on site with limited hours but there are lots of restaurants within an easy walk. I'd stay here again when in Winnipeg for sure.

Room Tip: The higher you go likely the quieter it gets but just keep in mind it's a downtown hotel.

My staff and I are very proud of our multi million dollar facelift and returning to the Holiday Inn Family.
Please note that the reserved 24 hour parking spots are assigned.
We hope to see you soon, perhaps for one of the Jets Hockey Games since we are only a 5 minute walk to the MTS Arena.
