“Quite comfortable and efficient”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

Nothing not to like about this offering from a chain I've always respected. Extremely competent check-in person who anticipated all my questions including internet log-in. An accessible and appropriately equipped business center. My room was spacious, comfortable and had no hint of overuse. Hotel is underground-connected to the network of sheltered walkways that made a February stay much more agreeable.
There's a doorman there who knew me by name each time after the first encounter.
I'm a President's Club member and got an e-mail notification of my confirmation even though it was made by a client. They'd done a search evidently of their PC files and pulled me up.
Worked in a meeting room and got to see the catering and AV efforts. All were right in line with the competence I'd seen everywhere else in the property.
I was impressed.

“Great Hotel in Downtown Winnipeg”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

This is my go-to hotel for downtown Winnipeg. Nice rooms, consistently good service, and a great gym. If you want to venture outside there are a few sights within walking distance and you are close to the walking paths at The Forks. Can be noisy in the summer when there isa baseball game on. The facility is a bit dated but well maintained. If your looking for the luxury heritage hotels that Fairmont offers in other cities like Edmonton, Toronto, Calgary and Banff this facility will disappoint you. However, that said it's a great place to stay considering it's location, downtown Winnipeg. If you are a woman travelling alone, don't go out alone after dark (use the valet parking if you have a car a must come and go after dark). Downtown Winnipeg is rough around the edges, and I don't consider it safe after dark. The city has done a lot over the past five years to clean it up, but they still have a way to go.

Room Tip: Book at least the 2nd room category to get an updated room. For added security and business convenie...

“A great option in Winnipeg- 3.5 stars”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

I get to Winnipeg quite often. This is the first time I stayed at the Fairmont. It was a good (not excellent) experience. The hotel has been refurbished of late. I had booked the 2nd room category not the traditional one (those ones are pretty run down). The room was overlooking the street. I got into Winnipeg very late due to delayed flight and so I ended up getting 2 queen beds instead of the King that I had booked. The room size is reasonable nothing too great. I got a rate of CA$179 per night which was almost the same as Hilton (which is not as nice) and cheaper than Inn at the Forks (better location I guess).

The internet speed was average not very fast. The hotel is connected via walkways to other office buildings in downtown. Overall a 3.5 star experience. From Fairmont you do expect 5 star.

“Not Fabulous”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

We generally like to stay at Fairmont hotels as they are usually spotless, and well located.
Our experience at the Fairmont Winnipeg was pretty disappointing.
The hotel itself is pretty dim and run down, and it was difficult to get directions places.
Our room was small, which isn't usually a big deal, but the price tag was hefty! And...it was dirty. Very dusty, with sparkles all over the place, and USED shampoo in the restroom.
The front desk staff were upset when I spoke to them about the unclean room, and comped us breakfast, which was nice. We stayed for 3 nights, and would not stay here again. On the upside, the bed was comfy.

“I always stay here while in the Peg -- it beats all others”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

I always stay at the Fairmont when in Winnipeg and am consistently impressed. Nice size room, consistently good service, and a great gym with a fantastic view. The lounge is a great place to eat and drink, and if you want to venture outside there are quite a few sights within
walking distance. Finally, I love the free wifi for Fairmont club members (easy and free to join). In my mind, and I've tried the rest, this is the best hotel in downtown Winnipeg.

Oh - don't park on the street in winter time, it'll land you a significant fine.
