“good choice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 November 2011

i was guided to this hotel by two great friends, and their recommendation was spot on. i was on my way to Churchill. This hotel is well situated, and just right for one stayover on the way and one stay over on my return. the Bed was huge, pillows snuggly, room was clean and sparkling, slept like a log. the management and staff were wonderful and very caring. Daltons staff were also wonderful, got me to try this and that. great breakfast and buffet. i would definately recommend this hotel to my friends in sydney australia

“Snotty front desk clerk”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

I arrived around noon on Tues 8th of Nov to meet my hubby coming in from Sangold mine to a prebooked room for an overnight stay. The clerk had no record of the booking eventhough I had a confirmation number. He flapped his hands and didn't do anything further to investigate. I gave him my credit card and continued to the room. Later on I rechecked with another desk clerk named Melana (I think) who was more than helpful and sure the room was booked properly and there was no problem!!!!!!!The noon desk clerk could use a little 'p r' practice as Sangold is a pretty big customer of this facility. We have stayed there before and never ran into this.......

Dear Valued Guest:

Here at the Greenwood Inn & Suites we understand the value of your time, and would like to thank you for your feedback regarding your stay.

I was disappointed to hear about the confusion with your reservation and the manner in which it was handled, I would like to assure you that this does not represent the level of service we are known for. I have relayed your concerns with out front desk team as we take your feedback to heart.

I am proud of Amlyn for taking the time to review your reservation and offering her assistance. I hope we have the opportunity to welcome you back.

“Close to Airport and Shuttle to Boot”

This was a good choice for airport travel as car parking is available with shuttle to/from Airport. It was a pleasure to have a wonderful driver who made our day!

“Great Staff & Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 October 2011

This past week we held a national conference at the Greenwood with 80 plus attendees staying at the hotel.

Although from Winnipeg, I along with two other organizers also stayed at the hotel along with the people from across Canada.

Rooms – the rooms are quite big by industry standards and are nicely appointed and very clean. Beds are comfortable and bathrooms were well stocked with fluffy towels. Although I don’t know if all rooms have them, the three I saw all had small fridges. Throughout the week staff were seen installing new flat screen televisions in the rooms. As to the allegation of bedbugs by the one reviewer – not one of the 80 people that stayed here had any problems. It was interesting to see that this one reviewer has never posted a review prior to the one talking about bedbugs.

Service – the service was always prompt and friendly. Running a conference for over a hundred is a challenge by itself. Add in providing food for breakfast, lunch and hospitality - and you see that the reality is, there is a high likelihood of problems or issues occurring. Each day the organizing committee waited for the inevitable that never came. Andrea the banquet manager attended to each and every wish – immediately. Before the first piece of food was served she asked about allergies and when they arose, special meals were quickly provided. The General Manager Steve ensured that everything ran smoothly – checking in each day.

Food – putting on food for over a hundred, several times a day, certainly must be a challenge. Each time the participants went to the buffet line they spoke of their amazement. Food was fresh, varied and delicious. At one break one of the participants took a picture and sent it to his wife.

Overall Impression – This is a professionally run hotel with dedicated employees who can’t do enough for their guests.

Would I use this hotel again – in a heartbeat. In fact I will be ensuring that any time we host either a day meeting or weeklong conference, we will use the Greenwood.

“Bugs warning! Terribbly unclean!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 September 2011

Just stayed at Greenwood inn Winnipeg yesterday. We were first assigned at this room on the forth floor. We did some regular checks for bed bugs on the sheets and the mattress. We didn't lift up the mattress to check the box spring because this seems like a pretty clean hotel. And this was what ruined the whole trip! When we were sitting on our beds after we had the shower. One of us was totally asleep. Some kind of buds came and attacked us! First there were several red bites and then we got suspicious. We started over for the bed bud check. When we lifted up the mattress to check the box spring, there was this disgusting bag of garbage on the box spring which we thought it was an used diaper!!!!! If not, that will be a mixture of disgusting paper and plastic. We was freaked out and we called the front desk immediately. However, no one came even after a long 10  minutes so we need to go downstairs to call someone from the front desk up!!! We got a room change after but how terrible this hotel is!!!!!!!! We couldn't fall asleep that night because we could not stop thinking about those bugs! This hotel harmed us not only physically, but also psychologically!!! This is really a horrible hotel! And in my own opinion, the manager response to this was unsatisfied too.

Steve Walker, General Manager at Greenwood Inn Winnipeg, responded to this review

As always the Management and Staff at the Winnipeg Greenwood openly welcome client feedback to help us review and improve our service and standards. We always are willing to engage our clients in meaningful discussion to assist in client satisfaction. We have taken this client’s concerns very seriously we do take immediate action to thoroughly investigate, establish facts and alleviate concerns. It appears that this current complaint, as posted to Tripadvisor, is somewhat different from the initial report we received on the evening this is alleged to have happened. As hotel General manager, I would like the opportunity to speak to the complaints in the posting.
The Guest advised it took a personal visit to the front desk to get attention on this issue. I apologize that we should be more prompt, but due to unfortunate timing at that point in the late evening, our front desk was tied up with guest arrivals. Once the client attended the front desk, our Manager on Duty immediately went to the guest’s room and conducted a visual inspection with the client present. No bugs of any kind were located, but we apologized to these guests and they were immediately offered another room. They were moved with our assurance that the matter would be properly investigated. This room was closed off and sealed for expert pest control review.
This Guest made an initial report that when they were sitting on their beds after they had showered, bugs came and attacked them. This insinuated that there was more than one bug and they were fast moving. Our hotel response was to immediately call in a highly respected, nationally recognized, pest control company to have this suspect room inspected and the allegation investigated. This company completed their investigation and provided a written report that this room was completely bug free and there was no evidence that any bug was ever present in that room. Our hotel has well been trained in bug detection as a proactive measure. Our hotel staff conducts regular inspections for bugs, as does most of our industry. We have strict prevention and inspection standards. In this case we have to go with the expert opinion that this was not related. At no time did the client, my staff nor the pest control company locate a bug or any evidence or the presence of a bug in this client’s room. When this client contacted the hotel after their departure, they were advised they would be provided a copy of our Pest Control report and a hotel report on this matter to alleviate any fear they may have about this allegation. The client has been provided a copy of that report.
In relation to the comment “When we lifted up the mattress to check the box spring, there was this disgusting bag of garbage on the box spring which we believe is an used diaper!!! The item that was located by the guest, was in the middle area between the mattress and the box spring. Mattresses and box springs are not normally turned over when the room is cleaned. We apologize that this was left under the mattress by a previous client. The item in question was paper and tissue and not a diaper as suspected by the client. I have personally examined this item and it is not a diaper. We regret that the client did not have a good night sleep in their new room as there is no evidence to support their complaint about the bugs.
The Greenwood Inn continues to strive to provide great customer service and an excellent product experience to our clients. We always welcome suggestions and comments from our clients and are always grateful for your feedback. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
