“renovated!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

We hadn't been at this hotel for a few years. Apparently this hotel was renovated a couple of years ago, with a new foyer, dining room, and wing of rooms; and it is all non-smoking. Our room was clean, roomy, well furnished and stocked. The staff were friendly and efficient; we used the free shuttle to the airport. Only downside was the hallway carpet was dirty.

“Clean, Pet Friendly, Bad Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

The staff at the hotel are extremely helpful. The hotel is pet friendly. Stayed in a convenient room on the ground floor. Can be quite loud because located in busy area. Clean, comfy king sized bed. Only downfall was the restaurant. I ordered a chicken caesar salad which was quite pricey. The chicken was precooked and barely warmed, probably microwaved. Great stay, but not a great eat.

“Good small hotel....”

Have stayed here over the years with family and ourselves. We like the location, as it is one block from Olive Garden and Red Lobster, and another block to the Polo Park Mall, and a bit further to the movie theatre, along with several other restaurants in close vicinity. Like it as it is privately owned and they try hard. Employees seem happy there with each other, and in talking to one waiter, he had worked there as a waiter for about 30 years, and said it was because he was treated well, and liked working there. Hotel rooms and hotel are nice and clean. Hallway carpets need some cleanup. The beds were very comfy, no problem adjusting. Bathrooms a little tight. Executive suite nice and roomy, but bathroom still on tight side.

Nice bar and also a nice restaurant. Stayed for two nights. Very friendly welcome. Went for breakfast twice. During week breakfast is 3.99, on weekend 7.99. Breakfasts were good, except potatoes were dry, and if you want your toast toasted, ask for well done, or it arrives almost the same as out of the bread bag, only slightly warm. Also, if you want your tea hot, ask for it to be really really hot. We sent ours back once for reheating, and it still was not hot. For lunch we wanted to room service as we were baby sitting a 2 year old, but could not get thru, even after calling the desk. So I drove out to Wendy's two blocks down and brought in our lunch. They give u a $10 coupon card for the restaurant when you arrive, but it has to be used from 5pm on, with a min. purchase of $20. Dinner meals are pricey, $15-25, so no problem spending that amount, altho we never did stay around for dinner.

Swimming pool area is fun, nice and clean, lots of towels. However, you have to be really careful on the wet floors if you have kids, as they will slip around very easily. Water slide is not for the wild kids, but nice for young kids that are cautious or first timers. Check out went well, however no thank yous for staying or please come agains. However we would go again, as I said at the start, it is not a chain, and I know they are trying hard, at least most of the employees working there.

“No Very Impressed.”

Stayed at this hotel late November 2011. The hotel presented well when you enter. Spacious lobby, clean and quick service checking in.

The room was average and could have been cleaned better. Room service dirty plates were left out in the hallway for the better part of 24 hours.

The restaurant (breakfast) was fine. Good service - bacon and eggs were cooked to order and tasty.

The regular check out is 11:00 am and when I asked if I could get a little later check out (12:00 noon) I was told "yes" but it would cost me $25.00! Never had any hotel tell me that before. I thought if was a bit of a rip off.

There are better hotels in Winnipeg at that price range that don't fleece you for a one hour extension on checking out, so it is unlikely I would return.

“Great Stay! Would recommend to others!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2011

We stayed here for a night's getaway and it was great! Friendly staff, good location, freshly remodelled rooms, clean room, quiet night, and great pool area. Would definately recommend this Wpg hotel to visiting friends and family.

Room Tip: Rooms on floors 1-3 facing the west have balconies and lovely sunsets.
