The Charterhouse has recently been renovated and it's now a pleasant example of a regular and well-kept Best Western. Two restaurants - a breakfast/lunch spot and the famous Rib Room (although it's now located on the opposite/south side of the main floor) provide competitively priced good food. No free parking, but at a discounted rate of $7 per night it's not a hardship. Rooms are clean and well appointed (iron, coffee and coffee maker, small fridge, hair dryer, lots of towels and extra pillows, etc.). No robe or slippers. Good, fast and free wireless Internet in all rooms. My stay was absolutely quiet. As usual in these sorts of rooms, the heating and A/C unit is noisy because of it's fan - some people will need earplugs at night. If you're driving around the city, the Chartehouse location is close to Donald St/midtown bridge for quick access to the south end, two blocks from Portage Ave for quick access to the west end, and three blocks from Main St for quick access to the North End and St. Vital/St. Boniface. Stayed four nights - no problems or disturbances - breakfast was good and fresh. If you want to grab breakfast somewhere else, The Don restaurant is a few steps away and a terrific neighborhood spot.

I booked here for two nights this summer...parking was extra which came as a surprise and so was breakfast! Quality was poor and service was slow...no pool.

Best Western on Pembina is much nicer! Too bad they were full as I would have stayed there...

Paid $160 for one night. Hotel DOES NOT have parking so parking is an additional $7.50. Check out was extremely slow, because 'Holly' was too busy conversing with her manager and didnt have the mental capacity to multitask. For the rate, your better off staying in a better hotel in WInnipeg.

We stayed in the 'mini suite' which was very nice. The bed was comfortable, the shower was modern and hi-tech (I liked the "horizontal shower" option), wireless internet was free, and the desk staff were friendly and helpful. There was also a large desk in the room. The location is excellent for central Winnipeg. It is in a pleasant and safe section of the downtown. It is within walking distance to downtown shopping, which is quite extensive and diverse. Also, you can walk to some of the main tourist attractions and interesting neighborhoods (e.g., The Forks, Legislature, Exchange District, Osborne Village, Via Rail station, etc.). The quality of the hotel surpassed my expectations and it was reasonably priced.
