“Old is beautiful and welcoming...”

This location is well hidden away from traffic and city noises... We were visiting 'home away from home in the city' and found it to be relaxing, welcoming and as already mentioned a breakfast feast awaited in the morning.... Just imagine a carmel topped, raspberry & creme stuffed french toast! Oh my! The hosts were neither imposing - nor absent! A great combination that allows guests to mange their experience. What a beautiful old home with the dark oak reminding you of luxury of times gone by....
There are cats for sure... they don't bother if you aren't allergic. Another guest we met at breakfast, found walking to Osborne Village, downtown and the Forks.... quite manageable. Our visit was less from a tourist viewpoint, but just a getaway!

Room Tip: Henry Moore room faces the west and we envisioned visiting in May or june when the balcony would be...

We had an absolutely wonderful time at the Columns! April was great & so helpful with recommendations for sites & attractions. The breakfasts were BEYOND believeable! We couldn't believe the spread of food & that was only the starters. The mains were to die for & a fresh idea each day. We stayed in the Crystal Heeg suite & the bed was incredibly comfortable & there was so much space! I am extremly allergic to cats & I did not react to the cats in this house. The coffee could be a little stronger & there could be some minor repairs/finishing touches to be done to the place, but we will definitely be going back the next time we are back in the 'peg. Thanks for the great time April!!

Room Tip: If you don't want to climb 2 flights of stairs, choose the Henry Moore room.

“Beautiful Mansion but....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 September 2011

Recently stayed at this lovely old mansion in a residential neighborhood on the Assiniboine River. The room (Henry Moore) was big, well decorated, huge ensuite bathroom, great linens and quiet. The breakfast included was more than plentiful and all very good. Although some elements could use some freshening up what bothered me most was the fact that there are 3 cats living in the house. I am VERY allergic to cats and didn't see anywhere on the website that they have cats. This reeked havoc with my breathing and I was comprimised all weekend. I spent as little time in this B&B as possible because of that....too bad because it is a relaxing enviroment.

“Beautiful B&B with welcoming hosts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 March 2011

The hosts are very warm and welcoming, and the house itself has incredible history and charm. Our bed actually heated up, which was nice when the weather was so cold. There is free internet access in an office room, and an assortment of DVDs if you want to have a night in. Our room had a balcony that would have been wonderful in spring. The bathroom has a spacious shower. The breakfast was top notch. April was so generous with tourist advice and even a ride when we needed it.

“Highly Recommended”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 March 2011

We had the joy of staying here when we visited Blessed Vasyl Shrine. April has the gift of hospitality plus! Her and her staff go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. The beds are luxurious and it is so quiet at night you can almost hear the snow fall. Her breakfast buffet and entree rival that of any five star hotel. Her attention to detail to make her guests feel welcome is admirable. The extra little things are too numerous to list. She even lights an evening fire in the wood panelled living room hearth to relax before bed. Only April, would think to leave out sherry and an assortment of chocolates for her guests. It makes no sense to stay at a hotel when you can stay at The Columns.
