“Perfect for girls getaway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2011

We stayed in unit 49 as we wanted something close to the village. The price reflected the quality of the unit. It was pretty good, but not luxurious. In fact, we got what we paid for.
The property manager was great, very responsive and helpful. The beds comfortable and hot tub was just the ticket at the end of the day. I didn't hear any highway noise. Overall I'd recommend this unit as a great place to stay with a group of up to 8 people.

“Questionable Reservation Practices by Whistler Premier”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2011
5
people found this review helpful

Our group had made a reservation to stay at Stoney Creek Lagoons for 2 nights in the Winter season on September 26, 2011. Unfortunately, a few people within our group had experienced a family emergency and had notified us that they would not be able to travel until further notice. Respecting their decision to the full extent, we began the process of cancelling our reservation shortly after. What unfolded was something that I hope no other traveler experiences, because I tell you that I will NEVER book any accommodations through Whistler Premier again.

Our group was informed that a booking deposit equivalent of one night room plus taxes and Marketing Fee are processed at the time of booking, with full payment for the entire stay being due 30 days prior to arrival. Any cancellation occurring within 30 days of arrival would forfeit the full amount. This was made aware to us prior to finalizing the reservation, and as a sign of approval, we were charged 50% of our trip cost.

I had called and spoken with a Whistler Premier representative and explained the situation to her. Her response to our friends' family emergencies was, "Okay, if you can produce a doctor's note or certificate (i.e. death certificate), then we can refund your full deposit. Otherwise, we can keep your reservation as credit for up to 1 year." Are you at all human!?! An emergency happens with your potential guests and you have the audacity to ask them to produce a doctor's note or death certificate! Last I checked we weren't in high school and trying to make up for missed class. Upon questioning their reservation/cancellation practices, she responds with, "these are the policies that we have instated and without them, people could cancel left, right and center during the winter season." To charge a group $350 after having to cancel their reservation 12 days later is an unethical business practice if you ask me. I have no doubt in my mind that this reservation will be picked up by another group in no time at all with the popularity of Whistler in the Winter season. It's not a case of protecting the owners of these properties, it's a money grab.

To the fine management at Whistler Premier, if you really think that the best way to handle reservation cancellations is to request a doctor's note or death certificate, then I guarantee you that there will be more dissatisfied customers like me. I always thought most knew about the old saying "the customer is always right", but I guess I was wrong. Try to go back to the basics.

“Pot luck”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 August 2011

We stayed in Unit 49. We stayed in Montebello last time and thoroughly enjoyed it, but decided to save $500 this time around and balance out the less favorable exchange rate. These units are definitely a step down; granite to Formica. However, even in stepping down, we still expect everything to work. As we arrived, there were swarming carpenter ants around the front door. both the outside light and the entry light were burnt out, making us navigate by cell phone light. numerous other light bulbs were non-functional and the ceiling fan in the living room was broken; instead, they provided a standing rotating fan. Tacky. The carpet was showing a fair bit of wear. When you turn on the hot water in the master bath, the pipes emit a low growl sound that vibrates throughout the suite, sort of like the lowest note on a tuba or having a humpback whale cruising by you several yards away.

We called the property manager with a list, mostly because they tell you that you are responsible for anything broken and we did not want the bill. We never got a call back.

There were two old toasters, one of which was missing a handle and didn't work. The coffee pot leaked onto the counter, but worked; non drip-stop.

It seems to me that at about $290 a night the owners of this suite could afford to go to Costco to get a $30 coffee pot, $30 toaster, and a $60 ceiling fan at home depot. OH and pick up a few light bulbs while you are at it. Again, we decided on cheaper, but we still think that things should work.

On the plus side, the other appliances worked, the hot tub worked well, they had wireless secured internet, nice selection of movies.

Also, this unit was very close to the highway, so there was a fair amount of road noise here.

From the other reviews, it appears that there are different management companies, so the quality varies here, so do your research. I would avoid any units managed by the company that handles unit 49; they are totally asleep at the wheel.

This unit is livable, but next time we are stepping back up.

“Stoney Creek Lagoons #16 was very nice”

I was quite scared after reading some reviews here, but it actually turned out a lot better than expected! The condo is on the 2nd and 3rd floors, has two balconies and the hot tub is on the third floor so you can even see some mountains - very nice! Everything as clean and in a very good condition. The kitchen is full with everything you need. The only thing missing was some sugar so we bought it and left it there. The IGA is just one block avay so you can get your groceries. The parking spot in the garage is right by the exit that leads to the condo entrance, not very far at all. You do have to carry your bags up the stairs thouth, so if you got heavy stuff it may be hard. We didn't bring much so we were ok.
Overall we had a great time there, the weather was nice and kids had lots of fun tubing and playing in the snow and then enjoyed the hot tub with us!

We are glad to hear you had a good time while staying at Lagoons 16 with Whistler Premier and want to thank your for taking the time to post this review.

As you mentioned the complex is located near the Marketplace area of the Whistler village which makes shopping quite convenient. It is also right by several great restaurants with one or more being open for every meal of the day.

The main village and ski lifts are either a 5-10 minute walk away or can be accessed via the free village shuttle (#5) which picks up just across the street. If guests are looking to be near the village but want a condo a bit away from all the action that entails The Lagoons at Stoney Creek is a great option.

“Over 400.00 a night for midewy shower and a neIghboring hot tub party at 3AM”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2011

Upon check in we were assured that any and all noise complaints would be taken seriously and dealt with. We made two noise complaints during our stay. Management response was that guests we complained about were not booked through Resort Quest Whistler are not subject to the same noise regulations therefore they were unable to personally have the guests evicted,. Does then mean that a guest paying over $400.00 a night has to endure a hot tub party next to their bedroom at 3:30 am? This no comfort for any future guest experience at any Resort Quest property that I would have.

The general state of the accommodations was substandard, the furniture dated and uncomfortable. There was mold and mildew found in the shower stall and tub jets, also a loose sink drain. We opened the dishwasher only to have it fall out of its enclosure. It was full of half cleaned dishes. There were no coffee filters so we used paper towels which was a resulted in a mess and felt like camping. We called maintenance to have loose carpet on the stairs and a broken kitchen sink faucet repaired. They completed the request.
This was the worst and most over priced accommodation we have ever stayed in over thirty years of visits to Whistler/Blackcomb.
