“Location!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 May 2010

For ski holidays our first priority is to ensure that accommodation has the best possible proximity to slopes. And Carleton Lodge fulfilled our expectations!

Our apartment could benefit from renewal, but for all practical matters it was absolutely perfect. Considering the affordable price, it was actually above expectations.

Parking, check in, service at the Sundial, proximity to slopes, shops, restaurants - we won't hesitate for a second to recommend staying at Carleton Lodge if you don't mind self catering. And in our experience: you get the apartment you actually rented. There are at least a couple of sites that will give you the option to look through the different apartments, to make it easier for you to pick your preferred alternative. They have different floor plans, different standards and you have a choice of viewing the mountains or the town.

“Ultimate position, perfect for a couple”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 March 2010

Spent 14 nights at the Carleton in Unit 206. Unit has been recently refurbished and for a one bedroom unit you could not ask for more. The primary reason for choosing Carleton was the location, there is nothing more pleasurable than walking off the Gondola or skiing off the mountain and walking less than 2 minutes to the ski storeroom and straight to your comfortable accommodation.
We have stayed in Whistler some 8 times and this is the best we have experienced. It was a little noisy but we had "Whistler Pride" and the Paraolympics and surely you don't come to Whistler for the quietness!!!!
This is the most central and easiest access accommodation you will get, loved it and have already booked for return in Jan 11.

“Never more!”

First disappointment was when we choose nice suite by photo on web site, booked it, got confirmation with suite number and got response on reception "we don't not anything, we never book suits by number". We got another room.
Parking was under the building. After 30 minutes of searches of parking spot where water wouldn't leak on our car from the ceiling we walked up to the room.
To say it was dirty is nothing. It was DIRTY. I had to wash all cutlery before use. I even couldn't touch coffee machine. Dishwasher powder was like stone moisten and dried . Dish sponge had hair on it. Bathroom had marks of usage.
Reception woman promised to fix it (no anything like excuse us) and we went for a walk. When we came back just bathroom was rinsed out (not washed).
Furniture was old. Hole in carpet was covered by another piece of carpet.
Only one thing I was ok, thanks god, bedclothes were clean.
I'll never go there again.

“Be careful who you rent from...okay”

Carleton lodge is very central, arguably too much so. We could not sleep at night as our bedroom window was right over the street and there is a hotdog stand that stays open most of the night. Arguably if you were higher up in the building you may not care so much.
However, it is very central, despit being a young couple, we would have preferred to be slightly further away from the noise to enjoy a little more of the mountains and then to walk into town for dinner and drinks.
We loved Whistler for the great skiing and the amazing food. If I went back, I would stay away from the holiday season as xmas was too packed on the mountain and we often had to ride down at lunch time after getting bored with the lines. As a Brit it is too far to come for the type of traffic you see over xmas - the resort is easy to drive in and out of so attracts a lot of day trippers.
We were not very happy with our condo agent (www.whistlersbest.com) who we thought was lazy and took advantage of us by taking some of our deposit to carry out maintenance on the flat which was nothing to do with us. The dvd was broken as was the stereo and the general up keep of the flat was poor. When we called to say the dvd etc was not working the response was "gee, is it not" but no effort to fix or replace it. In addition, there was no maid service, so if you come for ten days it ends up being a long time with no maid, given the price we were paying, i would have stayed in a hotel. There are plenty of people who rent in the building so if you are planning further ahead than we did, pick someone else.
All in all, this is the place to stay if you can find a nice condo with a nice owner at a decent price and want to be in the middle of the town.

“Great location, great suite, bit noisy at night”

We just spent a week in Whistler and stayed in a wonderful suite at the Carleton Lodge. The suite we stayed in was managed by the Sundial Boutique Hotel and so the service was excellent. Anytime I called the front desk with a question or request they were very helpful and quick to respond. The suite we stayed in was spacious and beautifully decorated (apparently they are individually owned and some are nicer than others). The lodge is in a great location and we were close to everything. The only issues we had were the loud after hours party people, no wireless internet access, and the fact that housekeeping only comes every three days. There were at least two nights where I woke up to screaming and yelling from the village around 2am. In fact during our last night some guys who were staying a couple of floors below us were EXTREMELY loud around 2am. I called the front desk and spoke to Nathan who must have done something right because they quieted down immediately. Other than the 2am awakenings we were very pleased with our accomodations. Unfortunately I am a light sleeper and we have three small children so we most likely will not stay in the main village again. If you stay up late or can sleep through anything then it shouldn't be a problem.
