“Large Rooms”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

Although the lobby looks a little outdated, I had heard good things about this place. I was happy that the rooms were very large, but was disappointed that my room was on the side of the hotel that basically looks out onto a rock face. It doesnt have that great of a view, to say the least. All of the staff members were VERY nice, but a downside to my visit was that I didn't sleep very well on a pull out bed. I was mountain biking the next day, and wanted to get a good sleep, but woke up a few times due to how uncomfortable the bed was, and how dry the room was. I would debate staying here again due to my sleep and view, but I was very impressed with the staff and the size of the room.

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience. I am happy to read you found our rooms Large and our Team accommodating. I will make sure they receive this feedback as it is energizing to read they are doing a great job.

From what I gathered you stayed in one of our suites facing the mountain face of the Hotel, although the view may not be as magnificent as the mountain view side, this side enjoys the benefit of been the quietest side of the Hotel.

I am very sorry you were not able to have a good night sleep in our sofa beds, although the mattress the sofa beds have are one of the best out there, the experience may not feel as sleeping in a regular bed.

If you are ever around Whistler and decide to stay with us again, please contact me to arrange the room that best fits your needs.

Sincerely,

Luis Rivero

“A good deal; basic but has what you need”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Don't be put off by the appearance of the lobby, elevator, and hallway smell (which is very mild): the rooms are fine for the price. As said by others, rooms are a bit outdated (think 80s maybe) but have everything you need and seems like they've been updated a bit. Everything worked fine and was quite clean. I would stay here again over renting a condo at Powderhorn: larger, more roomy, "felt" better. The single elevator WAS a bit odd, but we never had a problem getting it straight away.

One thing to think about: it's a pet-friendly hotel, so if you don't like dogs, may want to think twice. We heard dogs barking for their owners around 5pm through 6pm (who probably were dining in the village)... we love dogs so it didn't matter but I sure wanted to find the dog and give it a hug! Shuttle service is fine but you don't need it: it's just up a little hill, then down to the Westin, turn right and walk up into the village. The shuttle drops you near the Westin anyway, so it's worth the little walk.

Bed firm, towels could use some fabric softener, but lots of room. Internet for CAD $4.95/ night. Also you can leave your car there on the day you check out so that you can ski all day. Garage is a bit downhill from the lobby so it's "outside" you go ... into the elements. We booked this through the Whistler Accommodations "special deal" site where they don't tell you where you're reserving until you pay, but it was fine. Don't worry about this one: it's not the Westin, but it works just fine.

Room Tip: If you book a one-bedroom, they may just give you a two-bedroom and lock the extra bedroom and bath...

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for sharing such valuable information with everyone. You described our property very well.

Our property was one of the first properties to be built in the village, and it is in great shape for a 32 year old wooden frame construction. We are constantly updating our rooms to keep up with our guests expectations. We may not be a Luxury Hotel, but we offer comfortable and well located family friendly rooms, while meeting the highest standards of cleanliness and service. Our rooms are 900 Square Feet, now a days it is very hard to find a room this size without paying a premium price for them.

As you mentioned, we are a pet friendly hotel, and it also breaks my heart to hear a four legged friend crying, this is why we encourage all our guests to leave a contact number in case situations like this take place.

Next time you are planning a trip to Whistler, do not hesitate to contact me directly to help you arrange your accommodations.

Sincerely,

Luis Rivero

“Quick Trip to Whistler”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

Our first time to Whistler on a very cold 2 days. The Tantalus was in an excellent location, the room was large, beds were comfortable, kitchen was well-equipped and the fireplace was cozy. The only drawback was the the hot tubs were across the road - rather inconvenient on a very cold day.

“Basic No Ambience Room Functioned Well Great Front Desk”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

person found this review helpful

2 BedRm was spartan in design but everything worked right. Front desk very friendly and helpful. One single small elevator for the whole place was real odd. Easy walking distance to village. Nice lobby. Convenient shuttle service in beat up old van gets you up and over the short walking hill to the entry gate of the village, readily available during ski hours.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

Very nice hotel in a perfect location ( 5 minutes walk from the village). Rooms are outdated but large with kitchen, fireplace, living room area etc. Rooms got cleaned every day. Staff at the hotel is very pleasant and helpful. Overall, great experience.

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for your comments. I am very happy to read you had a great experience and that our staff was pleasant and helpful.

I have taken note of your comment relating the feel of the room, as these are in a continual updating cycle. Just last year we updated mattresses, case goods and hallway carpets, and we have plans to further update our property this year. Needless to say we will still continue to offer convenient and accessible accommodations year round.

We look forward to welcome you back!!

Sincerely,

Luis Rivero
