Don't be put off by the appearance of the lobby, elevator, and hallway smell (which is very mild): the rooms are fine for the price. As said by others, rooms are a bit outdated (think 80s maybe) but have everything you need and seems like they've been updated a bit. Everything worked fine and was quite clean. I would stay here again over renting a condo at Powderhorn: larger, more roomy, "felt" better. The single elevator WAS a bit odd, but we never had a problem getting it straight away.
One thing to think about: it's a pet-friendly hotel, so if you don't like dogs, may want to think twice. We heard dogs barking for their owners around 5pm through 6pm (who probably were dining in the village)... we love dogs so it didn't matter but I sure wanted to find the dog and give it a hug! Shuttle service is fine but you don't need it: it's just up a little hill, then down to the Westin, turn right and walk up into the village. The shuttle drops you near the Westin anyway, so it's worth the little walk.
Bed firm, towels could use some fabric softener, but lots of room. Internet for CAD $4.95/ night. Also you can leave your car there on the day you check out so that you can ski all day. Garage is a bit downhill from the lobby so it's "outside" you go ... into the elements. We booked this through the Whistler Accommodations "special deal" site where they don't tell you where you're reserving until you pay, but it was fine. Don't worry about this one: it's not the Westin, but it works just fine.
Room Tip: If you book a one-bedroom, they may just give you a two-bedroom and lock the extra bedroom and bath...

Dear Guest,
Thank you very much for sharing such valuable information with everyone. You described our property very well.
Our property was one of the first properties to be built in the village, and it is in great shape for a 32 year old wooden frame construction. We are constantly updating our rooms to keep up with our guests expectations. We may not be a Luxury Hotel, but we offer comfortable and well located family friendly rooms, while meeting the highest standards of cleanliness and service. Our rooms are 900 Square Feet, now a days it is very hard to find a room this size without paying a premium price for them.
As you mentioned, we are a pet friendly hotel, and it also breaks my heart to hear a four legged friend crying, this is why we encourage all our guests to leave a contact number in case situations like this take place.
Next time you are planning a trip to Whistler, do not hesitate to contact me directly to help you arrange your accommodations.
Sincerely,
Luis Rivero
