On the basis of our experience, I'm really surprised this place gets such good ratings. We stayed here for four nights, based on the TripAdvisor reviews. (As a five-room B&B it's not what I would call an inn, but that's by the by.) We were the only guests on the first two nights and there was one couple staying on the last two nights.
Some things were OK. Alan the proprietor was friendly and helpful in suggesting restaurants, hiking trails and the like. The room was clean (but see below) and the wireless internet worked fine. The food at breakfast was reasonably good -- eg fresh fruit, waffles and cheese soufflé on the first day -- though it did seem strange that Alan's wife, Suleeporn, never once put her head out of the kitchen or introduced herself. With the place less than half full, it's not as though she would have been too busy to say hello.
Other things were rather more disappointing. The lighting in the room was very dim -- partly because of the rather bizarre off-centre placement of the ceiling fixtures. In the shower for instance, you were in very gloomy light once you'd drawn the shower curtain. More importantly, in the whole time we were there, the room wasn't serviced at all - except on the third day when the bin in the bathroom was emptied (but nothing else was done). Sure, we can make the bed ourselves etc, but part of what you're paying for when you go and stay somewhere is not to have to do this. We've stayed in a lot of different B&Bs all over North America and with one exception this is the only place that had such poor/non-existent maid service.
I guess if you were passing through and staying just one night this place might be OK. But for us, next time we're in Whistler, we'll look for somewhere better.
