I had a great stay in Jan 2012, front desk staff were more than helpful, Al was great. Clean hostel, comfortable beds, I was able to get a good night sleep. Rooms all have bathrooms with showers, some bathrooms are shared between 2 dorms.
Lockers in the rooms are a good size and allow you to safely charge your electronics.
More actively social and set up for socialising than other HI's.
HI Whistler is about 10 kms out of town in an area built for the olympians at the 2010 Winter Olympics so you have to take a bus to Whsitler village (15 min trip) which is $2.50 one way or if you buy tickets from the hostel in advance its $20 for a sheet of 10. Bus to the village comes every half hour as I recall.
The internet isn't strong on the 4th floor and was non existent in my room, it is probably best in the common room on the 2nd floor or the lobby on the 1st.
Decent cafe on the 1st floor serving wraps, nachos and those kinds of things, though it is a little expensive, you can definitely find better deals in the village for something to eat. Good kitchen, although it can get busy at certain times, I suggest getting up there to make breakfast at about 6.30-7.30am if you want to make the first gondolas up.
I will stay here again for sure
