“Great hotel and location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

One of my favourite hotels in Whistler. The location is great since it's right in the village and right by the slopes, almost a ski in and ski out.

Rooms can be a bit cramped for suites but if you get upgraded there are several that are very spacious and have a nice view. I think all the rooms have been renovated but I'd make sure just in case.
Spa facilities are pretty decent too with several outside pools, although not as spacious as the Fairmont.

The Japanese restaurant in the hotel is amazing as well.

It is a pricey property but on par with other top end hotels in the village.

“For convenience and best of both worlds ( hotel / Condo) this is a great option”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

Just back from a 5 day ski vacation and very happy with our stay at the Westin.

Pros
- Close to the lifts, probably the best location, very easy to walk to whistler or the blackcomb gondolas.
- We had the jr. suite and had a functional kitchen area which is unusual when you are in a 'hotel' style room. The kitchen had microwave, 2 burner stove, toaster, kettle, coffee maker etc. which is important to us as we prefer to have a quick breakfast in the room before hitting the slopes rather than waste time at a restaurant. We even ate dinner in one night as we were lazy after a long day of skiing
- Service was great all around and no issues at all with any of the staff. Very impressive employees
- fairly well appointed health club and pool area. We tended to get on and off the hill early in the day so it was never busy when we were using it
- Nice and quiet hotel, easy to get a good nights sleep even though you are only a few steps away from the hustle of the village

Cons
- Definitely you could get a more economical stay, our package included some things like the ski valet but I could understand people being irritated at having to pay additional for that since you are not allowed to take ski equipment to your room. Internet was also very expensive, we decided to forego it and use wi-fi at starbucks or our 3G phones
- Depending on your situation, could be pro/ con but there were a lot of families with young kids ( its right next to the whistler kids learning centre pick up) .

“Wonderful Whistler hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

We only booked to stay here through our agents Snow Finders as we got an amazing early bird deal, (usually it would be way out of our price range). The trouble is now we are spoilt. Having been to Whistler 3 times for 10 days of snowboarding this is by far the best hotel we've stayed. Fantastic location, minutes from the lifts, great room (Junior Suite) with more than adequate kitchenette, nice small lounge area, large TV and probably the most comfortable bed in the world. The ski valet is brilliant and really is what you need when you return from a day on the slopes.
The hotel also has a great gym, pool and spa which are excellent for the days off the piste. We had breakfast in the Aubergine Grill which was pricey but absolutely gorgeous. Any extras within the hotel are expensive but then this wasn't surprising and we didn't need them. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful throughout our stay and we felt extremely pampered and really relaxed. Free flight check-in access and boarding pass print offs in the Business Centre was a nice touch.

“Nice but some negatives”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

My son and I spent a long weekend at the Westin for skiing, this was our first trip to Whistler. I picked the hotel primarily for its location, as it is in the heart of the village and a short walk to the lifts. I was disappointed by the spartan atmosphere of the reception hall upon entering, though some might admire its minimalistic look. The check in was fast and friendly, they had all reservation details & lift tickets and told me all about the town layout. My room was smaller than I had expected and unfortunately there was an unpleasant odour, probably from the previous occupants' cooking. After trying to get used to it, I did decide to complain and got another room - this was lucky as while it was the same category, it was a bit bigger and in better condition (East tower with vaulted ceiling). I visited the Fireside for a snack, good food and very friendly service. Then my son, who was on his way up to the hotel, contacted me from Squamish that his taxi driver had dumped him as the road conditions were very poor. This is where I am very grateful to the hotel: Stephen the concierge managed to locate an SUV and got my son picked up in less than half an hour and then brought up to the hotel. This was the weekend of Jan 20 - 22 (2012) where it turned out tons of people never made it up due to the large amount of snowfall and icy road conditions! During the weekend, Stephen helped me with other transport issues plus dinner reservations and was just super, thank you! The hotel negatives are: stupidly high charges for internet in the business centre - what is that? You stay in an expensive resort and have to pay for internet, but at any cafe or simple hotel it is free?! Plus the ski valet service is expensive, but they don't take your poles (or boots)! Of course we forgot our poles up in the room the first morning. The pool area was disappointing, while the shower area is very nice, the pool is very small and too cold! The jacuzzi was too crowded, really they should have at least two for a hotel this size. Overall, I was happy with the hotel: the location is excellent & I found all the staff very friendly and helpful - so I would book again.

“Four nights, 3 day skiing stay.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

This , the most recent stay at the Westin, was typical of those over the last 4 years. The service from arrival on was excellent (we took advantage of valet parking). A mid- January room special rate was a clincher. The location is superb, being 100 meters from the main gondola & chairlift base at Whistler. The valet ski service is very convenient, either heading up, or, especially, coming back, allowing you to go to apres or shopping directly without returning to the hotel. Ski rental is available in the building. The lounge is one of our favourites in the village for a relaxed apres-ski or for lunch. We did not use the pool/spa this trip but have enjoyed it in the past. Our friends, experienced world travellers and skiers, but new to Whistler, were impressed with both the resort and the hotel. We would recommend the hotel without reservation.
