“It's very average at best”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2011

Stayed in this lodge summer of 2011 for a few days. It's very cheap accomodation for the traveler that doesn't have the dough for the village.
However, I repeatedly had problems with the key-card entry system. I also found the rooms to smell very old and musty.
I probably would not stay here agin, simply because there are so many other options right in the Whistler Village. However, for the person with little funds, this place might do.

“A great lodge and so close to the Gondola”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 November 2011

It is a real great lodge and very cheap. There are private-rooms (2-5 persons) and Dormrooms (max. 4 persons). It has a big and very clean kittchen, a lounch with a fireplace, a Gamesroom with pool, tablesoccer, tabletennis, a laundry an very great a Sauna! To the villages is it very close (2,5 kilometers) and to the Gondola (creakside) is ist only 800 meters. if you want you can walk.
I can really recommendet this lodge. best way of reservation is, if you go to the internetside www.firesidelodge.org and call them or write them a email.
Have fun there.

“THE Best cheap accommodation in Whistler.”

The Fireside Lodge was recommended to my friend and I by a guide on one of Whistlers many attractions - the Ziptrek Ecotour. This place is also briefly mentioned in the Lonely Planet guide to Canada but deserves a stellar review.
I got the impression that in peak season the rates would skyrocket because the facilities provided at about $35 per night were excellent. Firstly, security is obviously a priority for staff who closely monitor access card usage. The dorm rooms (4 beds each) while a touch cramped, are actually cosy and provide heaps of storage. The laundry and bathroom facilities were well above average and were also clean. The kitchen appears to have recently undergone a massive upgrade and are second to none: apart from being spacious, the cupboards and clearly marked and are all stacked with every kitchen item and utensil imaginable. There are plenty of fridges and a huge pantry.
Right next door to the kitchen is a plush lounge room that would be a great place to kick back and enjoy a coffee after a hard day exploring. Or, there is the fully decked out games room.
The Fireside Lodge is only a few minutes by car out of the main centre of Whistler and there is a bus stop only a few hundred metres away if relying on public transport.
The only things that prevent a perfect mark for the Fireside lodge was a squeaky ceiling fan and that the staff on hand dont seem to like answering the phone - trying to make contact to book in didn't happen despite numerous attempts and we only got lodging by actually going there. Wi-Fi is available at a cost of about $11 for 24 hours.
The Fireside Lodge represents outstanding value and is highly recommended by this traveller - it sets a standard for Hostel accommodation in British Columbia.

“Clean affordable Whistler lodging”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2008

My husband and I stayed at Fireside Lodge for 3 nights in one of the private rooms. There are rooms with double beds and rooms with dorm-style set ups. The showers and bathrooms are shared and plentiful.

Shoes are removed and stored in the mud room as you enter. There's a game room with pool and ping pong table on the first floor, along with the laundry room, men's showers, and one women's toilet and shower. The other women's toilets and showers are on the second floor. This is also where the kitchen, dining area, living room, and some of the bedrooms are located. On the third floor, are the men's rooms and a small toilet.

There's a gravel parking lot and a bit of an uphill walk via stairs or gravel path up to the lodge.

The lodge is in Nordic Estates which is an easy bus ride #2 Whistler Creek route to and from Whistler Village or Creekside. $2 one way per adult.
