A friend and I had dinner at the BX bar anad grill in the Vernon Lodge. We started with a brie, salsa and roasted garlic entree, it was delcious and plenty for two. My friend had the three mushroom chicken entree with risotto. The chicken was tender, the mushrooms and risotto were cooked to perfection. I had the sirloin steak with peppercorn sauce, served on mashed potatoes with seasonal vegetables, it was also perfect. The peppercorn sauce was finished off with cream and brandy!
We love the ambiance at the Vernon Lodge. The BX creek runs through it and there it a huge tropical garden that is strung with dainty white lights.
What a lovely place for that special meal.

I was surprised that the room was so nice. Nice bed and TV and everything. Balcony would have been nice but other than that I really liked this room. I absolutley loved the Restaurant and pool area...how it is surrounded by lights and plants. I could sit there all day! Inconvenient to not having an elevator...but they do offer a bellboy to carry your bags so that is good. food wasn't very good in the restaurant, we had fish tacos and the rice wraps. But the scenary made up for it. Overall I would recommend the place.

There is no elevator in this hotel, the bathrooms are minuscule and the heating system is very noisy. However at least it worked in my room - a colleague froze in his room the same night. But the home made lasagna in the nearly deserted dining room was very good. Also for those staying at this hotel near Christmas, there is an astonishing light display in the central amenity area.

over all the trip was good but there were little things that you will have to get used to the bathroom is a a closet size you can't fit more than one person in there at a time and the door wouldn't open fully due to the curved shower curtain rod. temperature adjustment and control is just about non existent in every room. took us awhile to get the temperature down in our room when we weren't knocking the knob off as it was loose on the wall. you would be better served to get a bigger room as it would be a better situation and if you can avoid the dog end of the hotel due as barking dogs are can make it difficult to get to sleep. check in was a little tough as there was lots of training going on. the bx creek grill in the middle is fantastic really good food, it is a little on the pricey side, but if you want a nice meal it is well worth it. Denny for breakfast or even the pantry across the parking lot are good lower price alternatives all an all it is good place to stay if it is just a short weekend. or an over night
