Pros: Beautiful location. Nice room. Small lake that one can paddle around on. Hosts are helpful with suggestions of what to do and see.

Cons: Pleasant, but reluctant innkeepers. Not enough soundproofing and an odd tub use policy. Feeling of being restrained houseguests.


Overall our stay here was pleasant enough, but it is sometimes the little things that add up, especially when one is paying good money for something. We stayed two nights in the Romantic Suite, the largest room with a jacuzzi tub, located above the kitchen and living
room of our hosts. The room was clean and spacious but not very soundproof. Based on the volume of sound (the voices and TV of our hosts) I felt like we had to "tiptoe around Grandma's house". Not the
feeling you want when you are on your honeymoon.

On the first evening we asked to use the outdoor hot tub which was mentioned at our arrival, but were told that there was no outdoor lighting in order to get to the tub and that we would need to use it in the daylight hours. So we decided to use the room tub instead, which was quite pleasant.

The next day began with a very sweet but tasty breakfast of Belgian waffles and strawberries and polite conversion. However, when we returned from an afternoon in lovely Victoria, we discover a note left next to the jacuzzi tub that politely but emphatically stated that the tub jet timer should only be used one time (half an hour) or
the mechanical state of the tub was at risk. I found this reasoning lacking and disliked the fact that our hosts chose not to mention this to us face-to-face, but in respect for their wishes I refrained from using it further (filling up a tub and running it for less than half an hour is not worth the trouble in my view).

These and a few other issues, while by no means deal breakers, detract from the romantic escape that is advertised. The morning of our departure, we were eager to be on our way sans breakfast and any further politeness masking a somewhat awkward situation.
