“good view, average everything else”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 April 2008

We stayed here having never been to Victoria before. It was OK. We called the place prior to booking and were told that it was close to downtown - it's not. When we arrived we assumed the person there would have some information about Victoria, she didnt even know the bus number that would take us downtown. At breakfast I helped myself to a muffin, it was covered in mould, when i told the girl this she said, 'oh, I freeze them so they shouldnt be moudy even if the expirey date has past'. We had a pretty good stay, i wouldnt stay there again though. Its definately not a resort, just a B&B with a killer view.

  • Liked — The view
  • Disliked — It wasn't a resort like it says it was and the person looking after the place didnt know any of the answers to our simple questions

“incredible view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 February 2008

My wife and I stayed at mountainside Feb.15-19.To begin with this is not a resort ,it's a B&B and a good one.
Our room was large, cleanand had a great bed and jacuzzi. The wall facing the city is all glass and the view is incredible.
The staff was friendly and effecient. The breafast was continental but the food was of high quality. We were encouraged to take some with us for the day ,that was nice.
Most rooms have large decks and if you enjoy sitting on the deck or in the large sitting room with a good book and good coffee, this is the place for you.

The only complaint we had was we paid extra for the fireplace but had nothing to burn. Also our room could have used a dresser for clothe storage.
Next visit we will stay in "city view" room,a little smaller, same view and cheaper.

  • Liked — Friedly staff,great bed view,very quiet
  • Disliked — clothe storage,bathroom needs counter

I am writing this to warn everybody who wants to stay at this place
when we arrived there you pull up in the driveway to see a tarp on the roof of the the house. Our cab driver goes to the door this girl in sweat pants tank top and slippers answer to "Yeah" I ask my boyfriend I think we are at the wrong place but sure enough we were at the right place. We explain who we were and she said she wasn't expecting anybody thank god my boyfriend printed out the e-mail from there manager Fadre our stay was confirm and we had a wine tour confirm by the manager on that same day. This girl was so lost she tried to call her manager but she wasn't answering her phone but she reach some guy about the wine tour and she said that we could go on it tomorrow. She shows us our room I thought I was going to die, dirty smells like mold the furniture had dust all on it wires sticking out all over the place
They had a glade plug in the bathroom that needed to be change months ago open the drawers in the bathroom filth it takes 20 min to get hotwater in the bathroom. Later that day Fadre arrives she didn't even intorduce herself to us she said there willl be no wine tour they don't do it on mon and tues which happen to be the days we were staying there I ask her why she would confirm a e-mail stating she book it with us I got no answer. There are so dumm and confused that they do not even know how to run a bed and breakfast brochere they have is a lie the pictures dont match what the inside looks like you ask them a question about victoria where to go they get a phone book and some scratch paper even for a taxi they have no business cards of victoira in that house and shows you that Victoria is embrassed to give them anything

Please I hope this review put a complete stop in suggesting to stay there your visit will be ruin

“Not Enough Information”

My husband and I had planned on staying here as part of our honeymoon in BC but changed our minds when we arrived at the property. Though the staff was very kind and understanding to us and the location itself is more of a very low 3 star hotel, I felt that other honeymooners should be aware of a few things before booking.

First, the property does not advertise that it is a private home or even a bed and breakfast on their website. That was not going to work for us as we had large bags to carry to our room which was not accessible unless we walked through the entire house to get to.

Second, the room was nice but did not have any views unless you walked outside to the patio in front of it and to be honest, it smelled a little moldy in there more than likely because of the hot tub and the sauna located in the room itself.

Third, the parking was not convenient at all. You can't really back out of there unless there are no other cars in the lot itself and the driveway is extremely narrow.

Fourth, the location itself is very nice on top of a hill surrounded by other homes but it is still at least a 20 minute drive to the downtown area which you can easily get around walking.

If you're going to Victoria, I suggest you stay at the Marriott Inner Harbour or any other hotel close to downtown. We ended up there instead and it was wonderful, clean, and convenient!

“Could use some upgrades”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 September 2007

My husband and I stayed at this resort in late May of this year. We were very dissapointed that both the pool and hot tub were broken for our romantic weekend and we did not find out until we got there, and we were offered no discount because of this. We stayed on the main floor by the breakfast area (Mountainview Room) and it was very noisy, so maybe book an upper floor room. It is a really cool location, incredible view, but the owner needs to put some money into some patio furniture, fix the patio doors, put some flowers in the overgrown planters, put in a gas fireplace we could use, and to keep it cleaner. The windows were too filthy in our room to see out of, as well as the common kitchen area (especially the utensils and glasses and in the drawers). I was not sure our rug had been vacuumed, to be honest, before we checked in. I would return for those changes, and pay accordingly for the view with some true luxury.

  • Liked — The view
  • Disliked — The need for upgrades to an aging property.
