We rented both suites as we were travelling as 2 families one with a 2 yr old. stayed 3nights .
location was excellent for travelling around Victoria sightseeing leaving car behind in parking bay , everywhere was accessible on foot. Be warned your car ( and most of Victoria for that matter) will be covered in seagull poop!
pros and cons about this place ; firstly both appartments were generally clean and in good decorative order and spacious for our needs . We stayed in red suite which comparitive to my brothers blue suite was not in as clean condition in the kitchen, Utensils had seen better days and were thoroughly dusy and needed washing before use ( in both appartments) doubt people previously did much cooking but still housekeeping lacked in this dept , cooking utensils and some electrical items were grubby incl the phone , storecupboard itens were very out of date and stored in grubby containers no ecxuses for this , I pointed this out to the management but nobody came to clean them , excuse being there had been building work nearby that had affected the whole appartments however I suspect housekeeping was superficial in kitchen usually, all other areas were ok but guidebooks were 5 yrs out of date ! attention to detail wouldnt go amiss!
Minor mainainance problem in second appartment was dealt with efficiently by management and replacement coffees andd teas provided.
Sleeping wasnt an option in these suites ; we had 3 disturbed nights from seagulls throwing stones or shells and squawking on the perspex skylight over the kitchen , Night life disturbance from the bars and clubs till the early hours even midweek affected both appartments , it would be fine if you are a night owl and likely to join them till 3am but we didnt appreciate the drunks running up and down in the alley between the suites and next door restaurant ( which was a nice meal) .
If you do stay here these are the things to be aware of , but if location is number 1on your list and sleep deprivation and self catering arent an issue then ok also be aware the rooms arent serviced during your stay , incl refuse take out , there is also some noise from the bakery in the early hours . the breakfasts at the bakery which you are given vouchers for are good however. The bakery, suites and the concession stand at the Victoria Bc museum are owned by the same people.
